Gosh, it took me so long to write this, this evening, that I didn't see until I posted that it was already after 1:00amET.
Therefore, I moved it here to the new thread:

    Sooo...
Spinnaker had finished her antibiotic so we were able to go to Cape Cod after all. We only went for an overnight incase she started to go downhill again. But she's still fine!
Counting two quick pit stops, it's about a six hour drive. We were there at all because Manomet Conservation Sciences was again showing the photographs Shiloh took, along with the photos of three of his colleagues, and they had the whole exhibition in honour of Shiloh. So we wanted to be there in support.
We arrived in town arounf 4:30pm, planning to grab some fish n chips takeout ahead of the event. We were in the truck eating when we discovered the event wasn't slated for 6:00-7:30pm as we thought, but rather 5:00-7:00pm! Apparently the Library where it was taking place had it wrong on their website. We double checked with one of Shiloh's photographer colleagues who confirmed the earlier time. So we wolfed down our grub and got over to the Library in time. =Whew!=
My brother and SIL and a dear friend who lives on the Cape were a tad late to the event, but were there for the part where they talked about Shiloh! His friend, Brad Winn, one of the photographers, spoke so well and got choked up talking about him. That was really very sweet...and for me it kind of helped...because, while it's lovely that his artistry can still be seen, and his work is being continued by others, the lack of his personhood, his presence in our family and with his friends is ever a big hole. But I got hugs from the colleagues, and loved ones present, and it was a wonderful tribute.
Next, we went for a sunset walk by the beach. There is a lovely beach along the south part of the Cape that is partially closed off to vehicles, so the birds can nest. We got to walk on the roadway between the sand-dunes and the inlet, and saw Willets, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Geese, Rabbits (even a baby!), and more. The sunset was glorious.
Then we went to my brother and SIL's cottage for the night and had a lovely time talking late. In the morning we all went to our favourite restaurant The Breakfast Room. Yum!
The ride home took extra long because Wil got a software job in and needed to stop for awhile to do that and send it off. Then we ran into some serious rain (flooding near where we drove through), and passed a bad accident with emergency vehicles present. So glad to get safely home!
I was still so tired on Friday that I took a long nap! But we also made it to the hardware store for a new garbage disposal and Wil got it installed. Not sure I'd mentioned that ours seized up within a half hour of us leaving for the Cape! But VT*Grand and Eldest*Grand did fine anyway, as they stayed over and took care of Spinnaker and Mizzen.
All in all, a VERY satisfying trip!!! Oh! And as we crossed over the Sagamore Bridge leaving the Cape a schooner was making it's way through the Cape Cod Canal up to Boston for this week's big Tall Ships extravaganza. We have been to that before...back in the 90's when the kids were young. ⛵️
