That other KING guy...!

  1. The press rolls over for Trump again.

Donald Trump’s White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, was recently recorded warning CBS News to broadcast a new interview with the president in full and without edits – or “we’ll sue your ass off”.

Trump “said, ‘Make sure you guys don’t cut the tape, make sure the interview is out in full,’” Leavitt told CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil after he had interviewed the president, according to an audio exchange first reported on by the New York Times. The 13-minute exclusive segment aired on Tuesday, months after CBS’s parent company Paramount agreed to pay Trump $16m over its editing of an unrelated interview ahead of the 2024 election that vaulted him to a second presidency.

“Yeah, we’re doing it, yeah,” Dokoupil assured on the audio. Leavitt could be heard replying: “He said, ‘If it’s not out in full, we’ll sue your ass off.’” -- nordy

    1. CBS sold it's soul when it decided Colbert will have to leave.

  2. Listener, with regard to that fall yesterday, there doesn't appear to be an egg on my head, though the spot remains sore to the touch. Thankfully, there's no bruising around the hip that also smacked the floor, while the initial soreness has worn off. Far as I can tell, there are no fractures anywhere, though the left wrist and fingers remain unusually sore. Don't think there's any kind of concussion, though it might be hard to tell with as befuddled as I generally am on the best of days.

  3. James Talarico, a Democratic member of the Texas State Assembly running for U.S. Senate, has publicly pledged *not* to take money from AIPAC as has Shawn Harris, running for Senate from Georgia, whom we were talking about the other day. We can only take them at their word.

  4. On a personal note, I'm living through the WORST bout of depression I've suffered in the last forty years. I was born only a few months before D-Day and now here we are again. It's like being on the most horrible merry-go-round ever invented. Most of it is because I can't find something to DO about what's happening. I got the first glimmer of light tonight when I found a group is meeting at a local library to make whistle kits and anti-ICE signs. Gonna do my best to go because I think being able to take some action would help me. Susan

    1. That's a GREAT idear, Susan!! Do it! In fact, it's a time-honoured tradition. Even during WWI, women gathered to rip sheets and make bandages.
Our depression is situational...it's not as likely caused by some inner chemical imbalance but by an overload of unbalanced people in power.

  6. So, I've been grieving over the death of son Shiloh, in his prime. It's a terrible ache that comes and goes and doesn't tell you when to expect it. And that's completely normal, I know. And underneath I'm probably okay. But just to make sure I've enrolled in Night School. That is, a year long course on the Dark Night of the Soul. It's being offered by a really great group called "Spiritual Wanderlust" and will include presentations by authors such as James Finley, Barbara Brown Taylor and Ronald Rolheiser. It starts 10 days after my surgery and goes through next January. I hope I can gain some insight, perspective and inner hope from it.

    1. Sounds fascinating on its own account, and in your circumstances may be very helpful. Go for it!

  7. One thing I did pick up this week as a bit of perspective. It came from a close friend who is still recovering from the brain bleed she had 14 months ago. Her rabbi said, "You don't have to go back to the person you were to become the person you are becoming." Isn't that pithy?

    1. Makes sense. Why bother going backwards in order to go forwards?

  10. House Fire in Swanton VT (at the Canadian border)

The interesting thing here is that multiple fire departments helped out, including one from Canada.
