    1. Because All Men Are Brothers

Because all men are brothers wherever men may be
One Union shall unite us forever proud and free
No tyrant shall defeat us, no nation strike us down
All men who toil shall greet us the whole wide world around.

My brothers are all others forever hand in hand
Where chimes the bell of freedom there is my native land
My brother's fears are my fears yellow white or brown
My brother's tears are my tears the whole wide world around.

Let every voice be thunder, let every heart beat strong
Until all tyrants perish our work shall not be done
Let not our memories fail us the lost year shall be found
Let slavery's chains be broken the whole wide world around.

    1. Streets of Minneapolis lyrics:

      [Verse 1]
Through the winter's ice and cold
      Down Nicollet Avenue
A city aflame fought fire and ice
      'Neath an occupier's boots
King Trump's private army from the DHS
      Guns belted to their coats
Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law
      Or so their story goes

      [Verse 2]
      Against smoke and rubber bullets
      In the dawn's early light
      Citizens stood for justice
Their voices ringin' through the night
      And there were bloody footprints
      Where mercy should have stood
And two dead, left to die on snow-filled streets
      Alex Pretti and Renée Good

      [Chorus]
Oh, our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
      Singing through the bloody mist
We'll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
Here in our home, they killed and roamed
      In the winter of '26
We'll remember the names of those who died
      On the streets of Minneapolis

      [Verse 3]
Trump's federal thugs beat up on
      His face and his chest
      Then we heard the gunshots
And Alex Pretti lay in the snow dead
      Their claim was self-defense, sir
      Just don't believe your eyes
      It's our blood and bones
      And these whistles and phones
Against Miller and Noem's dirty lies

      [Chorus]
Oh, our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
      Crying through the bloody mist
We'll remember the names of those who died
      On the streets of Minneapolis

      [Harmonica Solo]

      [Verse 4]
Now they say they're here to uphold the law
But they trample on our rights
If your skin is black or brown, my friend
You can be questioned or deported on sight
In our chants of "ICE out now"
Our city's heart and soul persists
Through broken glass and bloody tears
      On the streets of Minneapolis

      [Chorus]
Oh, our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
      Singing through the bloody mist
Here in our home, they killed and roamed
      In the winter of '26
We'll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
We'll remember the names of those who died
      On the streets of Minneapolis
We'll remember the names of those who died
      On the streets of Minneapolis

      [Outro]
      ICE out (ICE out)
      ICE out (ICE out)
      ICE out (ICE out)
      ICE out (ICE out)
      ICE out (ICE out)
      ICE out

  3. For the next week (not today, of course) the proceeds for anything purchased at Phoenix Books in Vermont will be donated to the Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund. (This is the bookshop associated with the publisher who published Wil's book.)

  4. Hello, blogfriends. I have returned. I did not post last Sunday to yesterday because I was in the hospital. I am home, all is well, antibiotics are working and my mental capacity (?), such as it is, is restored. -- nordy

Not good to need to be in hospital, but sooo good that you're home again and on the mend! 🌺 Welcome back!!!

  5. Fully sighted, able bodied people don't stop to think and I'm tired of it.

So, last night on The Breakdown, Rick and Maya mentioned a new social media platform called Upscrolled. Today, I checked it out. It has a web site, including FAQ, Support and the like, but the service itself does not yet have a desk top version, only a mobile app. Well, that stinks from an accessability standpoint, but I'm game. Got and downloaded the app. Filled in my name and e-mail, and then had to provide birthdate. January was fine and I managed to change the day to 06. But then, no matter what I tried, I could not change 2026...like, at all...to anything. And, of course, you can't continue without doing that. So, I'm going to have to get Sis to do it for me which is, frankly a PITA.

What developers clearly don't realize is that the iPhone performs differently in what one might call standard mode and when Voiceover, the built-in screen reader, is activated. With Voiceover on, rotors like those used to select hours, minutes, days, months and years, essentially do not function. You have to turn off Voiceover, which kind of defeats the purpose of a screen reader! But I'm not sure the screen reader has anything to do with it in this case because, even with Voiceover deactivated, the year doesn't change. GRR! If the damned platform just let you sign up online, there wouldn't be a problem. I mean, even Instagram lets you sign up online, even though you can only upload photos from the mobile app.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm kind'a grumpy!
