In addition to the concerns stated on the last thread about the airplane from Qatar, there's also the little matter of the Emoluments Clause. Any way you slice it, it's just a crappy idea...so much so that even Republicans have been coming out publicly against it.
It's my understanding that the plane is being given to the United States, not to Trump personally. Although he will have the use 0f it for more than three years.
It’s not acceptable to the Constitution and Congress would have to approve it anyway. It would take three years and cost a billion dollars of OUR MONEY to retrofit. Then, it would be gifted to the DT Library, so it would still be DT’s to use.
Back during the first Covid-19 go-around, I bought (from Amazon) a couple of co-oximeters for us, and a third we gave to a friend living alone, that being the best way to know if a person was in serious pulmonary danger. They are proving very useful for monitoring my oxygenation and recovery from pneumonia. ——Alan
It was your post, back then, Alan, that made me purchase one too! I was so grateful to be able to check our oxygen levels during Covid. It was reassuring. Somehow, Wil and I have never contracted Covid (yet, anyway).
"The administration's embrace of white South Africans as refugees, while rejecting so many others, paints a disturbing portrait of Trump’s approach to Christianity."
I noticed on more than one occasion Trump has failed to actually place his hand on a Bible when taking an oath. Could it be that he fears being struck dead if he should? -----Alan
Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cat.
DeleteShad stays at peak for only a day two!

DeleteIt will evidently cost millions of dollars and take years to bring it up to the minimum required standards for Air Force One.

I didn't know that. So Trump won't get to use it after all.

Voyager! Once ‘dead’ thrusters on the farthest spacecraft from Earth are in action again
ReplyDeleteOh, my! That's quite a headline!
DeleteIt gives one several thrills just to imagine it, doesn't it?!!!
DeleteWhy the Episcopal Church is declining to participate in Trump's refugee plan
ReplyDelete"The administration's embrace of white South Africans as refugees, while rejecting so many others, paints a disturbing portrait of Trump’s approach to Christianity."
DeleteUh, splutter! Trump and Christianity in the same sentence?
DeleteI know, right? German theologian Dorothee Soelle coined the phrase (in 1972?) "Christofascist."
