The first is a pass-along card about the SAVE Act, which we must prevent from passing in the Senate. With sixty votes needed, it's essential that no Democratic Senators cave in, and Republican Senators must be pressured as well. The SAVE Act threatens voting rights by requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, which many people lack. Additionally, the law mandates that a person’s last name match their birth certificate, affecting millions who have changed their names due to marriage, divorce, or choice. Spreading awareness is crucial for motivating individuals to contact their senators.
The second initiative is a postcard campaign aimed at the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). The goal is to flood the Court with postcards, raising awareness of our concerns. While the Justices may not read each card personally, they will be aware of the public sentiment around them. The Court has overturned over 300 cases in their history (done by bringing an appeal on a prior ruling), and public opinion matters to them. Protests against deportations and appeals by the ACLU show they listen to the people's voice, and we must amplify that voice.
We urge participants in this postcard campaign to be respectful in their messages, as polite communication is more effective. Each SCOTUS card has space for a return address, personal note, and USPS stamp.

In his recent interview with Trump, Terry Moran of ABC News revealed that Trump has a problem with a disconnect between his actions and the country’s principles. Trump had a copy of the Declaration of Independence installed in the Oval Office, and Moran asked the president what it means to him. Trump’s answer made it clear he has never read the document. “Well, it means exactly what it says,” he answered. “It's a declaration, it’s a declaration of unity, and love and respect and it means a lot. And it's something very special to, to our country.”
Last night, former vice president Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for president in 2024, gave her first major speech since losing the election. “Throughout my entire career…I have always believed in the ideals of our nation,” she began, “[t]he ideals reflected in the Declaration of Independence, that all are created equal and endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. Ideals advanced and affirmed by the service and sacrifice of generations of patriots, the ideals that ground the Constitution of the United States, that here in our country, power ultimately lies not with the wealthy or well connected, but with all of us, with ‘We the People.’”
After excoriating the Trump administration’s “narrow, self-serving vision of America where they punish truth tellers, favor loyalists, cash in on their power, and leave everyone to fend for themselves, all while abandoning allies and retreating from the world,” Harris noted that “this is not a vision that Americans want.” She urged the audience to “gear up for the hard work ahead, and please, always remember, this country is ours. It doesn't belong to whoever is in the White House. It belongs to you. It belongs to us. It belongs to ‘We, the People.’”
Trump says Harvard will lose its tax-exempt status Bloomberg-- President Donald Trump declared that Harvard University would lose its tax-exempt status, a designation that has allowed the school to avoid paying levies on its revenue under classification for educational institutions.
Trump posted the announcement after weeks of threatening an Internal Revenue Service review of the Ivy League’s tax-free treatment. Conservatives have targeted Harvard and other elite universities in recent years over ideological differences and allegations of a rise in antisemitism amid campus protests against the war in Gaza. -- nordy
Continuing to get noticeably better day by day here. Upgraded to a normal breakfast (coffee still doesn't taste quite right), began exercises, continuing use of oxygen generator, nurse to visit roughly mid-day. Plan to try a hamburger for lunch. ------Alan
Home health care nurse came by and was satisfied that I was making satisfactory progress. After she left I decided to check my weight. I don’t recall exactly what it was before my current adventures, but I have lost about 35 or maybe 40 lbs. The day finally came for me to live off my accumulated fat. ——Alan

What DT is *really* up to:
ReplyDeleteTrump turns civil rights upside down in ‘biggest rollback’ since Reconstruction
I remain of the opinion that DT is senile, illiterate, and evidently suffering from ADHD.
