Trump’s Modus Operandi [Click] Jonathan Last: “He promises his base crazy shit. He then announces that he’s about to do the crazy shit. The media freaks out at the prospect of said crazy shit. Trump then wriggles out of doing the crazy shit and—this is the key part—his voters give him credit for the crazy shit anyway.” —Alan
I never made it here before 1:00am, but left messages on the last thread. I spent the entire day cleaning and scrubbing and have earned myself a whole day of playing in the kitchen! On Wednesday, I am making apple, pumpkin and cherry pies, as well as Wheatloaf and mixing the stuffing to stuff the big Blue Hubbard Squash. THAT looks amazing cut open on the table. We'll have a turkey breast on the side. I may make some rolls as well. Wil will do the clean up at the end of the day. He also swept all the floors and will vacuum all the rugs. In addition, he will make a last minute jaunt to the store for bread, then go help Root*Center*Son cut down a small Gray Birch tree that is leaning over to his kitchen window. We are really looking forward to having Root*Center*Son and some longtime friends with us for Thanksgiving!

Pete Hegseth considers himself to be at war with basically everybody to Trump’s left, and it is by no means clear that he means war metaphorically.
By Jonathan Chait The Atlantic In any case, evidence of Hegseth’s extremism does not need to be deduced by interpreting his tattoos. The proof is lying in plain sight. In his three most recent books, Hegseth puts forward a wide range of familiarly misguided ideas: vaccines are “poisonous”; climate change is a hoax (they used to warn about global cooling, you know); George Floyd died of a drug overdose and was not murdered; the Holocaust was perpetrated by “German socialists.” -- nordy
Microsoft faces broad antitrust investigation from FTC Bloomberg The Federal Trade Commission has opened an antitrust investigation of Microsoft, drilling into everything from the company’s cloud computing and software licensing businesses to cybersecurity offerings and artificial intelligence products.
After more than a year of conducting informal interviews with competitors and business partners, antitrust enforcers have crafted a detailed request to force Redmond-based Microsoft to turn over information, according to people familiar with the matter. The demand, which is hundreds of pages long, has been sent to the company after FTC Chair Lina Khan signed off, said one of the people. -- nordy

DeleteActually, pie day is March 14, or 3.14, a numeric approximation of pi. The custom here is to eat pie on March 14. -- nordy

Snow will arrive late afternoon on Thanksgiving. Southern Vermont will get the most, so I wonder if Cat will have snow too.
DeleteOvercast here this morning, but sun expected in the afternoon, and no rain.
