Upon reflection, I suppose that by the time the Night Witches could be recruited, equipped, and trained there might not be any undamaged oil refineries or terminals left in European Russian. Another of my great ideas down the drain, alas. ----Alan
I hadn't realized that the refinery attacks had had such a strong effect on Russia already. The fact that they have no place to store large amounts of oil means that if they can't process it they must stop pumping it out of the ground, and also the affected pipeline networks may become inoperable. It was only a couple of years ago that Russia restored the oil pipelines that were shut down after the collapse of the Soviet Union. ----Alan
