Wil is first. He aced his checkup. HDL 50 (!!) Triglycerides 88..! He's lost 28lbs in the past year Walks every day. Best of all, he did it all himself.
Very interesting! That could come in handy next Summer with the grands. Two of the elder grands do some very serious baking with their Mom, inspired by the British Baking Show. This could be fun!
I'm still out here. Hobbling around on crutches or with a walker and feeling angry and damn sorry for myself. I can only get about two things done per day, about 4% of what I'm used to. This has been going on since mid-November and I'm starting to worry I'll never get better. Being in constant pain is making me REALLY cranky.
Thanks for this update. Last we heard, in December, you saw glimmers of progress. I take it things have gone the other way.
Has anyone been so kind as to give you an injection of steroids or a non-opioid pain reliever? Do you have any surgical options? Has the prevalence of Covid hampered your ability to get treatment?
The year I turned 62, I was having a LOT of joint pain—both knees and right hip. Not so much fingers or elsewhere. Absolutely agonizing. Tried virtually everything topical on the market. Suicide crossed my mind more than once. Found this stuff called “New Blue Emu” and it was the only thing I’d used that helped significantly. So compared ingredients with other blue pain reliever, and ONLY difference was 10% emu oil. Thought: wow, if 10% can make that much difference. . . . So checked out 100% at the health food store. 8oz for $20. Thunder Ridge mfgr. Worth every penny and then some. Once or twice a day.
Mine was never diagnosed by a doctor, but rather by my sister after the above description. Hers was picked up while she was living in Finland. Also have a brother who seems to have it.
To answer listener and Alan. Yes, the massive uptick in Covid is running the doctors to death. I did go to the emergency room twice, the second time I had a bed in the hall. My regular doctor and the emergency room doctor both gave me pain meds (different ones). Both made me extremely sick and didn't really stop the pain. My spine seemed to get better and then my right leg decided to torture me. None of them gave me an actual diagnosis, so I don't know what's wrong except I can barely walk at this point.
Oh, and puddle, I hear you on the suicide. I told my brother I could now understand why chronic pain would lead people to just end it all. Because pain is invisible to others they tend to brush it off. And there is a very good health food store near me. I will keep "New Blue Emu" in mind, but sadly it will have to wait until I have some mobility.
I can drive (finally) and I drive my son to the grocery and he does the shopping for us.
puddle, I love you for posting all of this for Susan. I know what acrobatics it can take for you to be able to post at all. So to see you post three times for Susan shows a lot of love and determination and commiseration. ♥ ♥ ♥

DeleteWell, I did make him a pumpkin pie. π
DeleteNeat as I can tell, puddle and Cat each got just a few inches of snow. Not sure if that included any rain or icing.
ReplyDeleteAlso seems no power outage (at least now).
