    2. Wil sometimes has misgivings about retiring at the end of March. We will have enough money to live on, though not a lot of fancy things or travel. (Note: we don't really care about those things, so it's okay.) But, he says, I have a good job that pays well, and when I leave the company is not going to replace me; so my coworkers will have it harder. Maybe I should stay on a bit longer.

But he really doesn't want to, and last year we nearly lost him to heart disease. So, I'm pretty sure he's going to take the plunge. We are so lucky that he can.

    4. That sort of reaction is not uncommon; I had it myself. But it was time to retire. A cousin of mine said I would know when it was time, and she was right. When the hospitals were beginning to be overwhelmed with coronavirus cases (no vaccine then) I thought that maybe I should volunteer--after all, I had worked in hospitals for more than forty years, and like most such people I had a touch of FLS (Florence Nightingale Syndrome). But sanity regained control in about five or ten seconds. Working conditions are not under Wil's control and never will be.

  5. No meteor shower or comet viewing here; raining lightly through most of the day and evening. Feels like there is snow in the mountains. We got the Christmas tree up and decorated.
