  1. Trillium is a lovely flower, and to be treasured.

Alan, thanks for all the work!

Glad to see Hannah back. Always enjoy her insights.

    1. No work at all, just a typographical version of an old guy running off at the mouth.

  2. I had noticed references to Göbekli Tepe from time to time, but hadn’t paid them any serious attention. That was a mistake! Here are a couple of YouTube videos about it:

Death Rate still holding at 1.1%
(But we had 9 deaths in 3 days. Very sad.)

  5. 😆😆😆 This is hysterical!

Tyson W. posted a photo of his arm with a bandaid on the shoulder and wrote:
I may have gotten the Facebook Messenger RNA vaccine yesterday. My shoulder’s bugging me a bit. Can someone explain how to turn off notifications?

    Ani H. responded:
I got this auto reply when I emailed Bill Gates about it:
"While we understand that this is a difficult and often stressful time for our customers, we ask for your patience. Our IT department is aware of the issue and will be releasing an update shortly to correct the problem. Meanwhile, other users have found it helpful to flap their arms like chickens to complete the microchip installation process."

  6. Last year a robin built her nest atop one of the light fixtures outside the garage. Normally I would remove the nest after the season was over, but last year I didn't. Coming home this week I see that another robin is making use of the already completed nest and has moved in.

    1. You may not be aware that it is illegal to remove the nests of songbirds, and the reason is exactly that they get re-used by that bird or another (even another species of bird), increasing their survival rate. (Of course, on your own property, I doubt you'd get in trouble for removing a nest.)

  7. A long read; sounds credible. The GOP-Big Business Divorce Goes Deeper Than You Think [Click] “It’s not just about voting rights; it’s that businesses and the Republican Party increasingly care about incompatible things, says Jeffrey Sonnenfeld.”

  8. Whoo hoo!! Today I got the results of my bloodwork and I really rocked my lipid panel (cholesterol test)!!

My A1c is still 5.8, which is just barely still in the pre-diabetic range. But not bad.

My doc says my chances of having a heart issue in the next 10 years is 5.6%...!! She wrote it up really nice too, so I have stats to share with the kidz, since I told her they were a bit concerned after Wil's blickage happened. She did an EKG for me, too, and it was fine.

    Onward!!

    1. And if the A1c stays right there, that's probably fine; if it trends up and up, that is another matter altogether.

    2. * blickage = blockage (but you knew that)

The A1c has been there for 3 years, but a tad lower than it had been. So I'm satisfied, but it would be sweet to get it just below the cutoff.

    3. Hey, Alan, I understand that the A1c reflects the blood sugar level of the previous 3 months. So, does it matter at all what the blood sugar level was 3-6 months beforehand? Would I have a better result if I paid attention to it a lot sooner?
