Double Trouble

49 comments:

  1. Marco and Laura are set to hit the Gulf coast, crossing paths twice in just a few days. Hurricane Marco will likely be a very strong Tropical Storm (70mph with gusts to 85mph) when it strafes the islands from east to west along the Louisiana coast Monday night into Tuesday morning. Hurricane Laura will then smash into the same coast, on Wednesday evening, nearly perpendicular to Marco's path. This is a very rare occurrence (I think there are only 2 other times this has happened in the last century).

    1. I of course hope that FEMA can cope with it, but under DT I doubt it.

    2. puddle, it looks like the remnants of Laura will pay you a visit on the way by. Take care. 💝

    1. This may say why:

Tweeted by daughter Claudia Conway, AUG 23rd, 1:59am:

“my mother’s job ruined my life to begin with. heartbreaking that she continues to go down that path after years of watching her children suffer. selfish. it’s all about money and fame, ladies and gentlemen.”

Kellyanne Conway said she is stepping down to downs more time with her children (who are in Middle School and High School).

    2. George Conway is also stepping back from politics.

    3. ^ He’s leaving the Lincoln Project and Twitter.

Daughter Claudia is also leaving Twitter and asks that people not spew hate on her parents.

Sounds like they had a family intervention.

    1. If I recall aright, the BBC's headline and brief blurb indicated that plasma therapy is being rushed forward because Trump bitched that it had been neglected or some such. Good Lord! So now the scientific and health care communities jump when Trump flicks an eyelash? The world has gone totally, irretrievably mad!

    2. Yep, he thinks he needs a win before the election, and that will do it. Nothing else matters. And as for vaccines, there are some weird things that can go wrong with them--even potentiating the diseases they are intended to protect against.

  7. From Auntie Beeb: Were these the three hours that upset Trump’s campaign? [Click] Trump was beaming when he went on stage [in Tulsa]. The fire marshal later confirmed there were 6,200 people inside the arena when the main act came out. Or to put it another way - it was two-thirds empty. Or to put it another way still, that was a smaller number than Sha Na Na attracted, The Pips (without Gladys), Loverboy and The West Virginia Touring Company performing La Traviata.

  10. The smoke seems thinner today; the sunlight is not as orange as it has been. Official visibility is 2 miles (up from 1.2 miles), air quality index is down to 170 (merely "unhealthy" instead of "very unhealthy").

  12. A new Morning Consult poll in North Carolina finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump in the presidential race, 49% to 46%. In the U.S. Senate race, Cal Cunningham (D) leading Sen. Thom Tillis (R), 47% to 39%.

A new Democracy Corps survey in 16 battleground states finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by 10 points, 53% to 43%. “The race showed Democrats stable with a 6-point lead in the generic congressional and up a point to an 8 point margin in the big five Senate contests.

  14. A new TargetSmart poll in Ohio finds Joe Biden just ahead of Donald Trump in the presidential race, 47% to 46%.

A new AP/NORC poll finds just 31% of Americans approve of President Trump’s leadership on the pandemic, a significant drop from 44% approval in March, when the virus began sweeping through the United States. That’s caused Trump’s overall approval rating to sink to just 35%, down from 43% in March. The poll also finds that just 23% think the country is heading in the right direction, while 75% think it’s on the wrong path.

Who Needs Putin When We Have Trump? [Click] So far as I am aware, the question of whether Trump is a Russian agent or a Russian asset has yet to be answered.

    1. I figure Trump isn't intellectually up to being a Russian agent; "asset" is more like it, as is "useful idiot."

  17. Oh my gosh, SNL and the Late Night shows are going to write themselves. The RNC is such a farce! They even let Junior's girlfriend speak. Wil quipped that instead of "Donald Trump, Jr's Girlfriend" they might simply use the term, "Homewrecker." Of course, I'd give them both credit.

The calibre of the speakers is quite different from those who spoke at the Dem Convention last week. We especially enjoyed the guy from "Sunshine Gasoline." LOL! Now this may reveal our years, but, Wil quipped, "Would you like 'clean air' or 'regular'?" Who's up next? Rainbow Petroleum? LOL!!

    1. Unholy Moly! Did I just hear Junior say that with DT you can have a great job, a beautiful house and a perfect family...?!! PERFECT FAMILY??!! You mean, like a wife and five children? I'm surprised he didn't add, AND you can throw that all away for a girlfriend! Wil said "HOW did a lightning bolt not hit him immediately?" (I guess it's proof of that God and Mother Nature are more loving than we.)

    2. Thanks for the updates, listener. I didn't know anything about Junior's paramour, and Sunshine Gasoline went right over my head--but that doesn't matter. I expect that SNL's take on the St. Louis pistoleros should be low-hanging fruit. I was listening to an Atlantic podcast with Chad Mayes, former GOP leader in the California Assembly, now an Independent, on what has happened to the GOP. [Click] He’s kind of a young guy, doesn’t go back very far, but is interesting to listen to.
