Birthday

Wow, today our granddaughter in Maine turns 11...and will receive her Hogwart's Letter,
thanks to Gramie's best friend (who does them so convincingly).
Here is the birthday girl holding her baby cousin who turns 1 next month.

I sure hope the Judiciary expedites these things! Why is it taking so long? What's to ponder?

  5. As pandemic limits scrutiny, GOP fears lesser-known Democratic candidates will steamroll to Senate majority. [Click] “Republican incumbents trying to defy the president’s sagging poll numbers want more debates to shine light on their challengers, especially because the pandemic has limited campaign activities — meaning fewer chances for new candidates to make mistakes.” Things are tough all over.

  8. 'It’s my constitutional freaking right': Black Americans arm themselves in response to pandemic, protests [Click] Following the Civil War no small numbers of Black Americans did exactly the same, but it has been erased from the history books.

I suppose the current situation is increasing membership in the Socialist Rifle Association to boot.

    1. Sorry, but I don't think I would want Trump in a position to tell doctors what to do.

"Socialized" health insurance is, of course, something entirely different.

  16. In a survey by YouGov Chat last night we were shown TV ads by every winning presidential candidate from Eisenhower through Obama and asked to pick out favorite. What I noticed is that the ones I liked most all had music. In fact, my second pick after Obama's "Yes we can" would have been "I like Ike," which had nothing going for it but bouncy, upbeat music and maybe some cute cartoon figures. Reagan's "Morning for America" was the only one without music that I would give the time of day to.

Have there been any ads with music this time around? I don't watch TV, of course, but I haven't seen any mentioned here.

    1. That's an interesting observation, Bill; it makes all kinds of sense. But it might be something of a challenge in the present circumstances. I will have to see if I can find the episode online.

    3. Very interesting! Did Howard use music back in the day?

I think Biden (or any other candidate) just talking coherently would make me feel upbeat.

New York and Florida populations are roughly the same.
