Here Comes April!

This is honestly not an April Fool’s joke!
Congratulations to Bill, who has won the snowmelt pool!
The last of the snow at the end of my driveway melted
Tuesday morning.  (Still a little snow on the mountain.)

    2. The complete and total irony is that I chose the Feast of All Fools as a signal that I wasn't up for making a serous guess.

      That’s our lives these days!

    4. Bill, do you mean you’d rather not have the chocolates?

I am happy to send them, but would need your address. (My email address is upthread.)

Either way is fine. Let me know. πŸ™‚

    5. Until today I hadn't been aware that chocolates might be involved. But no one in this household is really into chocolates, so virtual chocolates are fine.

    6. Ah, I see.

Well, I’ll post some virtual chocolates soon, just for you. 😊

  2. This may not be news to anyone else, but I have just learned that the $75,000 income limit for the full stimulus check applies to each individual. That means it's $150,000 for joint filers.

    1. Yes, we were relieved to hear that. What’s more, an individual who makes between $75K and $99K will receive a proportionately lesser amount.

    2. Right. Dad thinks Sis and I may qualify to get something as well, though probably not the full $1,200.

    3. As I am reading what I see -- and I don't totally guarantee this is right -- if you and your sister file your own 2019 tax returns you will each get $1200. I'm not currently clear on how this fits with also being claimed as a dependent on someone else's return -- the same question comes up in regard to our son, Marcus. But the stimulus check is more than any savings from an additional dependent.

Well, more than enough for now. Time to get moving. We pulled a lot of weeds yesterday, and will give it a rest today. The delphinia are growing like crazy, and just beginning to flower. I have one opinion left to compose for a public defender, then I figure to at least sketch out a wood block for carving. At least start carving it tomorrow or the next day, and begin printing (by hand, no press) before class next Tuesday.

    1. Alan, remind me: is it an online class? You aren't actually gathering in person, are you?

    2. Yes, it is an attempt at an online class.

    1. Well, as I was already living a less hurried life, I would like to get back to that normal again. But I'm also okay waiting upon others finding their own less hurried lives. It would be nice if no one had to die to make this possible.

  7. 82 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Fresno County, including one homeless person who has been housed. No hospitalizations, no deaths. It got into a nursing home two counties to the south of us; 6 patients and two workers positive and isolated, everyone else being tested.

  8. Will the coronavirus kill the oil industry and help save the climate? [Click] Dunno, but things will be different on the other side. I haven’t checked, but figure Peabody Coal shares are probably approaching par with Czarist railway bonds these days.

  9. According to Social Security Works, Trump has caved to pressure and now will not require Social Security recipients to file a tax return even if they owe zero federal tax in order to qualify for the relief money. However, recipients of veterans' pensions and SSI must still do so. SSW is working on it.
