  1. Here's another good quote, Susan:

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
    ~ George Orwell, 1984

    1. Yes, I read it long ago. Who could have imagined that we'd have an illegitimate "president" who would take it as a "how to" manual.

And the painting *is* lovely. That is some swell house. I just love it.

  3. So, I showed the painting to Eldest and he said, "Impressive!" Then he informed me that the flag is hanging backwards. It was hung correctly in an earlier photo, but this way in the most recent photo I have from two weeks ago. Argh! Back to the easel!

    1. Picky, picky; has he never heard of artistic license?

    2. Were it a case of artistic license, the flag would have been hung upside-down.

Oh, and half the time that flag out on the front stoop is a rainbow flag. I almost used that one because of the rainbow in the sky.

    1. Moorhead makes a good point. I hadn't heard that part of the letter when I first learned of it.

Perhaps he could clarify his meaning? I suspect he was asking the wider Church to pray and to help the Church move forward together. However, his use of repent in that context was not wise, and it was not like him.

If I had my druthers, I'd like for the Pope to heal the wounds of the Catholic laity by making a few sweeping changes. [Mind you, I know that these are not directly related to the abuse, but I think they contributed to it being so prevalent and so easy.] I would like to see the Pope declare that women may be ordained, that married deacons may be ordained as priests, and that priests may marry. In one fell swoop it would solve the priest crisis, and bring back to the pews many of the disenfranchised.

  6. The GOP *deserves* to die. They have done so much harm - not only to the people - but to the planet. Their rejection of science and their rabid embrace of false religion have hurt us all. Their never-ending greed has hurt us all. Their racism has hurt us all. I want them to lose so very badly that those few who do manage to survive remain *silent* and will not dare to utter one word during their term.
