November Ends...

Sunset At Standing Rock

My November Guest

Robert Frost

My sorrow, when she’s here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She’s glad the birds are gone away,
She’s glad her simple worsted gray
Is silver now with clinging mist.

The desolate, deserted trees,
The faded earth, the heavy sky,
The beauties she so truly sees,
She thinks I have no eye for these,
And vexes me for reason why.

Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow,
But it were vain to tell her so,
And they are better for her praise.

  2. Hurrah that the type size is fixed!! I can't believe I missed yesterday's blog! Chalk it up to being ear-deep in Christmas secrets and making gifts for the grands. Currently, I am turning a wooden Premier Edition rotating Scrabble set into a Harry Potter Scrabble set, our-family Edition. Ha! It will have extra tiles that show all the spells and curses and potions used in the books. Using one at the beginning or end of a word garners the player double or triple word score or an extra turn, depending on which tile is played. However! One needs to make their word the tile is part of relative to the special tile. Thus the tile "Accio" would need to be accompanied by a word such as GET or RETRIEVE or ACQUIRE The box and the board itself will sport quotes from the books as well as crests, a Sorting Hat and more. :-) FUN! I can hardly wait for our eldest grand (age 10) to open it!

  3. The gov. of ND has asked hardware stores not to sell items that could be used in incendiary devices (including propane!)in the area around Standing Rock. Reportedly, the two Ace Hardwares in Bismark are not following this new corporate edict, which is very brave of them. The state (or maybe it's the county) has started fining people who bring supplies of any type to camp.

    1. What do they care about a Molotov cocktail here and there? They have water cannons to put the fires out, don't they?
