Best Kid's Menu Ever

If you’ve ever eaten out with kids, you know they can’t always make decisions about what to eat… After all, they tend to love the same things: American standards like chicken tenders and hot dogs.
But even though they may be hungry, they may say things like, “I’m not hungry” or “I don’t want that.” (Once it’s in front of them, however, they change their minds, or take two bites and are full.)
Well, an eatery in Altoona, Pennsylvania, The Deli Mansion Park, came up with the perfect solution: The most honest—and funny—kid's menu ever.
The menu came out on September 22, according to deli manager Brian Stroh.
“The parents love it,” he told The Huffington Post. He also said it was inspired by actual kids.
“That’s what I hear when kids are here ordering with their parents. I don’t know! I don’t care! I’m not hungry!”
YEP.

  1. Humor meets practicality! (I must admit that I am nearly helpless in a Chinese ala carte or dim sum restaurant; Special No. 1, 2, or 3 works just fine for me--IF they have them...)

Herewith some quotes about Sacred Harp music that I found on the Bremen (Germany) Sacred Harp web site:

The heavy metal music of the 19th century.

I mean, they sound really great, like, I'd quite like to join in, but I'm just worried that I might end up married to like eight of them or something. (Listener in a pub)

For newcomers, Mr. Cobb explained, a first encounter with the “powerful and elemental” sound can inspire many different reactions. “Some will say, ‘Oh, that’s interesting,’ while others will say, ‘Wow, that’s beautiful,’ ” he said. “And then there is a certain, small percentage of people who say, ‘I must do this.’ ” (New York Times)

If one can sing at all, it is possible to sing this music. Indeed, if one cannot sing at all, one can sing this music; the resulting wrong notes will easily be absorbed in the enthusiastic tumult of everything else that is going on.

I brought a few friends along to the impromptu sing on Saturday night, one of them said "When you started to sing I felt like I was about to be sacrificed... but in a good way." (Matthew Parkinson)

The last is definitely my favorite! (Alan)

  2. So HRC has, or at least acknowledges, a partial understanding of half the problem:

In a leaked recording at a fundraiser, Hillary Clinton tried to explain the phenomenon of young voters flocking the Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primaries.

Said Clinton: “Some are new to politics completely. They’re children of the Great Recession. And they are living in their parents’ basement. They feel they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves. And they don’t see much of a future.”

She added: “If you’re feeling like you’re consigned to, you know, being a barista, or you know, some other job that doesn’t pay a lot, and doesn’t have some other ladder of opportunity attached to it, then the idea that maybe, just maybe, you could be part of a political revolution is pretty appealing. I think we all should be really understanding of that.”

She also emulates teenage speech, like, you know? That does not impress me.

    1. Oh. When I read it (in the Tribune) I assumed that was her natural speech when not on stage.

    2. Only proving that she doesn't have a clue as to who Bernie supporters are/were and that is exactly why she cannot reach them/us. "living in their parents' basement" Really? She is tone-deaf and utterly clueless. I absolutely despise her, you know? I mean, like, you know?

  3. Is the Times Revelation Just the Tip of the Iceberg? [Click] Could this be The October Surprise? Probably not without a second leak…which would presuppose a second person with an axe to grind with Mr. Trump. Nah, couldn’t be. Could it?

    1. Aside from any speculations, this brings front and center that this guy who constantly boasts of what a great businessman he is had no net income whatsoever for 18 years. I did better than him!

I'm watching the trough and hoping that it is Mighty Mouse: strong enough to save the day in a timely way. Otherwise the Northeast is in big trouble. The 8am and 11am model runs showed it coming right over my roof. Now there is hope of it going out to see.

Meanwhile, my heart is with the people of Haiti and the whole region.

    1. I hadn't heard about it before, but looked it up on Weather Underground and Wikipedia, and it looks like REAL BAD NEWS. I've only been in the vicinity of a hurricane/typhoon once; it was scary.
