Beautiful Vermont

  1. Such a strange season for music. Too many deaths of people just barely older than I am. Experiencing it the same week as welcoming a brand new life. The world turns.

    Just look how far we have all evolved since the Dean campaign. Including Howard.
    Ah, the give and take of life.

  2. Here's an article looking down the road from Iowa, and with information about HRC's and Bernie's ground games--some of it truly surprising to me. [Click]

    "There are no saviors e'er will help us,
    Nor god nor caesar nor tribune;
    'Tis ours, O workers, must the blows be,
    That shall win the common boon.
    From the thief to wring his stolen booty,
    From its prison to free the soul;
    'Tis we ourselves must work the bellows,
    'Tis we must beat the anvil's roll!"

  3. All kinds of interesting stuff at politicalwire.com this morning--especially if one reads between the lines. Gotta run.

  4. This just in from talkingpointsmemo.com:

    "Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is gaining on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton among national voters, shrinking her lead to 15 points, according to a Monmouth poll released Tuesday.

    The Monmouth poll showed that nationwide support for Sanders has surged to 37 percent, up from 26 percent in December. Support for Clinton, however, has declined to 52 percent from 59 percent in December. The tightening race corresponds with a fall in undecided respondents, from 8 percent in December to 4 percent in Tuesday’s poll.

    The Monmouth poll was conducted by phone from Jan. 15-18 among 352 likely Democratic voters. It had a margin of error of 5.2 percentage points."

    Now back to my work simulation.

  5. Thank-you, Alan! You certainly use your break times well.

    I looked at several of the links and you always find such interesting ones!

    I'm on the run this week, playing catchup from last week, keeping tabs on the new Grandson, and working fast and furious on his baby quilt!! Haven't ventured to play with my new pens yet, though I'm eager. Soon!!

    1. Oh, I like those catchup days--they balance out the mouseturd days! The pens are nothing fancy, but are functional. I tried the converter in my Pilot Vanishing Point pen, and it seemed to run out of ink sooner than the cartridges. (Not so the Platinum converter.) The regular Pilot ink (they also have a deluxe version) seems very serviceable; the blue is water resistant (not water proof), which I like (and which is very unusual); and both the blue and the black inks flow well. The Noodler's Black Eel ink I had is noticeably dryer in the same pens--but it is water-proof. (Also alcohol- and bleach-proof, so they say. It binds to the cellulose in paper.) The next time I empty a Pilot ink cartridge, I think I will try refilling it. Or maybe not. Pilot is probably going to be my standard ink. Among other virtues (from my point of view), the Pilot VP pen has the best pocket clip of any pen I have ever had; it slips onto a shirt pocket easily , stays put, and comes off without difficulty. I suppose that's probably a guy thing... I truly am making progress with my penmanship simply by paying attention; it is even carrying over into my scribbling. Let me know when you hear back from the home schoolers.

      P.S.: Thanks for the compliment on the links I share. The therapod dinosaur lek is one of my favorites; I looked up the actual scientific paper, and it seems they found a number of them, scattered across several states.
