  1. Update: Dad went to the doctor this morning. They think the mass is a blood clot. While this isn't great, it's a whole lot better than a cancerous growth.

They're keeping an eye on him and he has to temporarily go off his blood thinner, which is always scary. Overall though the prognosis seems to be guardedly optimistic.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and concern. Please keep Dad in your prayers, though. It really makes a tremendous difference.

  4. Penny and I went out to a restaurant to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. To an Italian restaurant we hadn't been to before, although it is near our house and has been open maybe two years. (Which I guess makes it "new" to people who have been in Oak Park almost 45 years.) The food was excellent. Different from standard Italian and inexpensive for the quality. Penny had a pasta dish with braised beef tips, fruit, vegetables, and pine nuts. I had chicken pistachio, with chopped pistachios abundantly mixed into the breading and a sauce on the side that had a hint of sweetness. I'd call it a satisfactory celebration.
