  2. A productive day here. I got up an hour earlier than my body wanted to, to meet a friend at her barn to do some photography. She brought out her horses and ran them in the field, on a lead and then off. Such beautiful animals, including a colt. It was in the 50's and near 60 all day!! Then I came home for lunch, caught a half hour nap and planted over 100 Spring bulbs. After that we went hunting in the village graveyard for Snowflake Bentley's grave, but didn't happen to find it before dusk. We did happen upon the grave of an old friend, though. Tonight the temperatures drop and we may wake up to a little snow. I'm okay with that.

    1. I neglected to mention that we also took a very long walk through fields and woods. I am fond of fallow fields in November…so subtle and peaceful.

  3. November 27th was my mother's birthday, and for many years it was Thanksgiving also.

We are off on the morrow for the SF Bay Area--to pick up some presents at a potter's studio, visit Artist*Daughter and do some shopping and send presents to relatives in Japan. There was some frost this morning, but there are enough clouds now (9PM) that I don't think there will be fog tomorrow, or at least not much. Saturday should be the lightest traffic of the weekend. This past week we very nearly got caught in a horrendous traffic jam caused by construction on the freeway, but now we know how to detour around it. So if we see the warning sign, we will quickly take the old highway that parallels the freeway. (Last time we just barely managed to take an offramp, and following some big trucks we bypassed the jam--I figure it was about 4.5 miles long, barely moving while we were doing a mile a minute on the old highway.)

Getting a lot done this weekend. The deposition transcript I proofread today had an unusual number of corrections--maybe a hundred and fifty in 106 pages, mostly for clarity but more than common for grammatical and vocabulary issues. Quite a bit more work than anticipated, but now done and into the mailbox. Maybe I will look over some discovery in another case this evening--that should go quickly.

We had an external optical drive conk out on us (we have two and use them a lot), and I figured it was the drive itself. Turned out it was the drive housing electronics--power supply or some such; it happened once before. It's getting hard to find them with the connections we use, so I bought two.

    Full moon tonight--AAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    1. Alan, your mother's birthday must be a hard day. *hug*

I always thought November 27 was Thanksgiving and recall being chided as a youngster for persisting in thinking so. I'm glad to know it wasn't a delusion on my part.

  4. Thinking about that gunman at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic, I am reminded that for several years now hospitals, and I suppose all Medicare/Medicaid health care facilities, must have a government-sponsored active shooter training program with yearly refreshers. Presumably that helped in Colorado Springs. I just might do a little impromptu refresher the next time I am at the hospital...

    1. They obviously give that training to disgruntled postal workers as well.
