Friday the 13th once again!

  1. I got an email today form Howard urging support for Chuy Garcia (for mayor of Chicago). MUCH better than the ones I got from DFA as such. This one talked about why Garcia would be a good mayor and about his "people-powered" campaign. Mentioned how Emanuel is getting his money from big donors but otherwise lacked the anti-Emanuel rants that the DFA emails had featured -- some of which blamed Emanuel for things Daley had done. Almost persuades me to get involved in Chicago politics after all. But I'm not sure an additional contribution to DFA is the way to do it. DFA's previous emails have led me to suspect they be even more clueless about Chicago politics than I am.

And I discovered that SeaMonkey had disappeared from my computer overnight. Had to download it again.

    1. My basic (and certainly not original) technique when reading about something I don' know much about is to check the parts I DO know about. If those are OK, I figure the rest probably is too, so you are probably on safe ground, Bill. I am not on DFA's mailing list, but I see no need for rants, certainly. Garcia sounds like a bit of OK, but I am not inclined to play the part of outside agitator in Chicago--at least not this time. Right now I am going to agitate some hot chocolate. Then to bed not long after--have to be on the road before sunrise, on my way to the hospital.

  2. I was (am) thinking about going double daylight saving time. So that would make it like Chinese DST, eh?

  3. Wow! Weatherbug tells me the current temperature is 65F. Do you suppose winter is over?

    1. We didn't have much winter to get over here, what there was, definitely isn't. On the way home from work yesterday and today the car thermometer said about 75 degrees, and the forecast is for high temperatures in the mid 70's to low 80's for the coming week. Evidently the Los Angeles area is likely to set high temperature records. The contrast between 65 and what you folks have been having must be really nice...

  4. Any Mac users here? I have an Entourage question:
Somehow in the blink of an eye today I managed to drop my compose window from where it was docked into my mail Inbox. I see no up/down arrow that I might shift to reveal it again. Also, for some reason I now have to double click on everything to open it, and just resting my cursor on a message no longer opens it. Ideas?

    1. I am a Mac user listener, but I am afraid I have no idea what you are talking about--sorry.
