    1. I seem to recall that Dr. Dean had something to do with this. Especially the health insurance coverage.

    2. Yes indeed, Bill. Dr. Dean got us the Doctor Dinosaur program, so that every child in Vermont can have healthcare.

  3. I heard a lot of fireworks a little while ago. Do you think it's the 4th of July?

  4. So, after Wildlife*Biologist*Son got the photo of the reason for the tornado warning and took cover in the office at Home Depot, he went home and had to remove a bat from their guest room! Tonight they have torrential rain as Hurricane Arthur churns by. We are headed over there tomorrow, and will be staying in that guest room. I don't know whether to laugh or have second thoughts. Ha!

  5. I can hear some fireworks in the distance, but it's quiet here, thank goodness. for a number of years a couple of neighbor kids would repeatedly set off what I figure must have been M-80's. Evidently it was OK with their parents, and we didn't hear of any injuries.

I was going to turn our compost heap for the 4th of July, but it was too hot to do much outside unless one must. I got a lot of consulting odds and ends and other stuff done inside today, although there is still plenty to do. This three-day weekend came just in time.

I saw an article in The Guardian about secure e-mail developments in response to the government spying scandals. It led me to a new encrypted e-mail service that looks good--now in beta, free, should be easy to use--that doesn't use the e-mail protocol, so doesn't leave a meta-data trail. I'm going to give it a whirl; my attorney clients should find it attractive.

  6. Thanks for the tips, Alan!!

Bill, I think bats' greater contribution is their ability to locate and consume vast numbers of mosquitoes!
