Can you believe this flower is about 100 years old?

  1. Howard's the Doc!

Sorry for my absence--kiddle left at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, and I've been recovering. At least I've been sleeping well. As usual, lots and lots of stuff done. I did talk him out of putting the plexiglass on the screen door. . . . until the October visit, which is winterizing time.

    Good luck to Miss Morticia.

    1. Thanks, puddle.

I found out more today by the simple expedient of asking Penny and Marcus. They had totally lost confidence in the vet at the office where we have been taking our cats for 40 years. She apparently never seriously attempted a diagnosis but just recommended that Morticia be put to sleep (Morticia is a very old cat, but was still very spry until this started). For the past two or three weeks they have been trying home remedies, which haven't worked. So tomorrow morning they are taking Morticia to a different vet.

  3. WELL! My client and I have been working on a grant application for the past six weeks or so, looking at a mid-October deadline. I was really very pleased with what we have done so far. So today we got word that the application has been cancelled. Apparently someone decided the researcher wasn't eligible. I have no clue why that might have been.

    1. Grant applications are a world quite foreign to me, but nevertheless--POO!

  4. I got a small start on packing for Canada last night, and did some more planning today. Now I had better do some physical packing. It shouldn't be very hard--I normally have a suitcase ready to go for several days and am unlikely to overlook anything important. The main differences will be the longer time (nearly two weeks) and cooler weather. A stop at a laundromat around the halfway point should mean I need pack little more than a week's worth of clothing. A carry-on bag, a backpack and a jacket should do for me. BTW, some years ago I purchased an inflatable horse collar-type neck pillow, which I can fully recommend for traveling. Being deflatable it stows in a very small space.
