White-breasted Nuthatch

  1. Howard Dean campaign...glad I was there.

It seems we will be going to Montreal, Toronto and probably Buffalo for our 30th anniversary this Autumn. (Miyoko lived in Toronto and still has a number of friends there.) It seems that if we play our cards right we can fly round trip from Fresno for around $400 each, maybe even a bit less. Pretty good.

    1. You probably won't be in Toronto the same time I am. I'll be going for SMOFcon -- the convention for people who help run science fiction conventions -- probably the first week in December.

  2. Dreary, chilly day. After a night of additional rain overlaying yesterday's rain and the snow melt, the river's over the bridge again. Glad I made it to the store when I did.

Knees not perfect, but still improving, and I slept very well last night.

Beau has taken to, these last few days, lounging right in front of the door on the front porch. He doesn't always come in easily from that positioning, but more easily that other places he's picked to lounge, lol!

  3. We had a few inches of snow overnight. Today has been grey and dismal, but I haven't seen any further snow or rain.

    2. That photo ought to be made into a poster, entitled CLEAR SCANS! Three years---wow. With modern diagnostic technology I think that has to be at least the equal of the old five-year standard. And she chose a great family, didn't she?

  5. I'll be leaving for a science fiction convention in Boston in a couple of hours. Taking the Lake Shore Limited, with a nice roomette for the overnight trip. Which actually starts with a wine and cheese reception in the dining car before the train pulls out of the station.

I'll be back next Wednesday morning, so you won't see me until then.

  6. Weather here remains frosty in the mornings and clear, calm and not really cold during most of the days. The wind machines in the citrus orchards continue working at night, or at least have been doing so, but the word is that damage has been minimal. I will take a bit of time off in mid-February to get pruning and spraying taken care of in our yard. Target date for Canada trip is September; October might be a little nippy for us California softies [grin]. And now back to Grand Fenwick! [The movie is fun, and some of the changes were of course necessary, but the book is better.]
