Wand Flower

Here's another great flower because it looks so delicate but is actually hardy and blossoms on and on!

  1. Howard is absolutely the ONE!!

Really pretty flower, listener -- never seen it or heard of it before, but the flower itself looks faintly reminiscent of Columbine.

The general consensus is shaping up to be that the Romney pick rather than being bold is a panic response. Feels about right to me. The need to quieten the Baggers, at the cost of losing the Indies they need. The Baggers were getting ready to perform a riot at the convention to dump him. And the convention is earlier than the election. So I'm guessing they think/hope/pray they'll be able to fix the rest between the convention and the election. I'm thinking not, though.

    1. When your situation is not good, you make bold moves to try to recover. Romney's strategy of attacking Obama's policies without offering any of his own wasn't working, so he named a running mate known for concrete conservative policies.

Those of us here don't think that will work either. But that's those of us here.

    2. And FWIW, yesterday I talked to an out-of-state friend -- the one I will be visiting on my way to Philadelphia -- who is a strong paleo-conservaative. He's about given up on Romney. Just looking for the Republicans to take control of the Senate.

    4. Huh? What did I miss? Who did Romney pick? Surely not Ryan!

    5. Cat: Er, yes. Yes you missed something. Romney picked Paul Ryan as his running mate. All over the newspapers. (At least here on Earth. Not so sure about the Andromeda galaxy.)

    6. I've been busy! ...if sleeping and playing on Facebook and Library Thing count as being busy.

Well, it could be worse. I was afraid he'd choose the Attack Chihuahua. Ryan seems, from what I've heard, to be totally horrible, but at least his voice isn't like nine inch nails on slate, which is a plus for those of us doomed to listen to news coverage of the campaign.

  2. Looks like the AVG may not be a success. Two or three times, it's gotten down to 2 or 3MB to go, has claimed download successful, and started over again, because nothing's been updated. Today's lines have been clear and fast, so no excuse that I can see. listener, could you ask your kid what might be the problem? I'm flummoxed.

  3. Joe Welby, who wears several hats in Engelbert's organization including webmaster and marketing guy, added me to his professional network on Facebook. My gut feeling is that this was accidental. Still, it seemed like a golden opertunity so I siezed it. Wrote him a note (which I failed to save for sharing here), telling him about the song I wrote for Enge and that I have a few others I'd love Enge to see. It was pushy, but in a manner of speaking he asked for it. Also, pushy people get stuff done. Quiet, modest, polite people don't. I'm not expecting any thing to come of it, but you never know. Certainly nothing would have happened if I hadn't tried.

Also, I've joined the New Hogwarts Castle group on Library Thing. Heaven only knows what possessed me. I don't need someplace else to lofe. But it's fun

We got rain Friday and Saturday, thank goodness.

Also, Emma Kitty has bounced back remarkably. She is pretty much back to her old self. Sis recognizes that it's a miracle and as such can't be relied upon to last. Still, it's a great relief to everybody. The mood was pretty dark around here for a few days. Thanks to everybody for prayers, good vibes and the like!

    1. My bet is that it wasn't an accident. I only know about Linkedin, but the constant pressure is to have bigger and bigger networks. He probably figured you were active enough to be worth adding to the hundreds he already has. Can't hurt, right?

And you're right that nothing will happen if you don't make the attempt.

Glad to hear about Emma Kitty. Hope the improvement continues for a good while.

Kid will say to Google the problem and see what comes up. Something often does, and it's exactly what he would do.

  5. Lol! Kid's right. Already did. Before this try. Nada. Aren't enough of us on dialup that it registers. Guess I'll let it try for a couple of more days then try another anti virus program.
