Kitty Bath!

Awww.  Here's Spinnaker washing Mizzen's face.  Mizzen loves it!
It means a lot really, as Mizzen still roots around like a nursling when she gets into her
white, furry bed. Spinnaker has made life a lot nicer for Mizzen.

  1. Howard's first, as always. And looks like I am too. Woke up early, found very little interesting news, no interesting email waiting for me (OW! That's unusual.) and so I'm here hours before my usual time.

Be interesting to see how much progress I can make on all the things I've been wanting to get done. Light contract work load the last few days has helped me move other things along.

Well, easy peasy, lol! Woke at about ten to five, came down, shut down the computer (I leave it on overnights in case I get sleepless, I don't have to start it up in a sleepy state). They didn't actually turn it off til about five fifteen, which I took as a not good sign. Woke before the boy, and we came down at about eight fifteen. Got the freezer and fridge empty, water boiling, and hot pans in. Went to feed the puss, and the lights came back on whilst I was there. Came back in, turned OFF both. and set up computer for the day.

On a *good* day I might have missed it altogether, lol!

Bill, glad your work load is giving you enough room to wiggle! Wiggling is a fine pastime, grin.

Listener, back in the day, we were breading Siamese cats for about a year, as we were finishing up, we gave the mother away, and kept one of her kittens, Peach Puss, who never stopped nursing -- on her Dad. Sam was a huge (nearly twenty pounds) Lilac Point Tomcat, and he never objected. Used to break me up! The other scene I remember so clearly, and will till I die, is driving home to Utah with six kitties and two big dogs, driving through Cleveland in a rain storm, and Nilla on the scenic deck of the cat cage (homemade) washing the faces of his sisters and we careened through rush hour traffic!

    2. puddle ~~ If you're going to let your computer run overnight, why not put those processor cycles to good use? There are "distributed computer networks" that use the idle cycles of computers around the country to do useful computing. I forget which environmental organization it was that said the greenest thing you could do was let your computer run constantly as part of their network. Being who I am, I run a couple of scientific things using the BIONIC Manager program from Cal Berkeley. One of the projects I run is SETI@home. (SETI = Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence)

    3. I didn't exactly say work was light, I said contract work was light. Some months ago I got sweet-talked into taking on a couple of freelance projects, expecting the contract work to be lighter than it mostly has been. Did get the smaller of the two done a few weeks ago. Was hoping I might get some of the preliminary research for the second done today as well as taking care of a bunch of things connected to the trip. Hardly surprised that didn't happen, although *some* of the things I wanted to do got done.

  3. Defrosting all finished up! Yay. One of the easier ones of my life. I think letting the ice get rotten for that three hours really helped. Not so much dripping as big chunks of ice frost falling. Never found time to get the meatloaf made, so will put that off til evening.

    1. Hey! WTG!! Congratulations!!

      And yep: WAY too hot!

And I made it worse cooking the meatloaf. Which, however, was *stellar* so. . . .

  5. Bill...unexpected space in the day is such a gift!

    puddle...loved your hilarious kitty stories!!

Sooo tired! We broke the record for hottest day here...95F. Same or worse expected tomorrow.

But I got to meet with my cousin and his wife over lunch, then had dear friends over here at the house. Got a heap of errands done too, all at the hottest part of the day. Bleah!
