  2. "This would make the dowsing rods a conduit for the diviner's subconscious knowledge or perception; but also susceptible to confirmation bias."

Gotta laugh at the "scientific" explanation, lol! The well digger might have some "subconscious knowledge" of where one might best dig for water, but Nancy knew jack about it. And she got a terrific well out of it. BTW, her nearest neighbor had a well dug about ten years before she did. He was just the next lot over, on the same knob. Hers came in at several times the capacity, and about 1/5 the depth of his (and a third of the cost). HE just said to the well digger: DIG HERE (because the well head was convenient to the house).

Guess it's a *need* to explain what's not explainable. Which *isn't* new, eh?

  3. I've never doubted it, because I've seen it work too many times, but I was really *stunned* at HOW strongly you can FEEL it in your body. I'd always thought it was more "ethereal" than that. This is no mere whisper at the window -- more, a really loud insistent pounding on the front door!

Not sure if I believe in "ghost" dousing, nor am I likely to play with that, but there are lots of places to go with this, fer shur. Going to be an interesting coming year.

I feel like I did when I learned how to read auras, lol! Just exhilarated!! (I *know* I was really annoying to friends and relatives for a while! Often till I'd taught them *how to*. . . . )(you can even read your own!). Edwin's and my mother's were both a bright, pulsing yellow, which fits what I know of them, but which I didn't expect, lol! Mine is, most of the time, a pretty deep blue. Paled out to a baby blue while Edwin was in ICU. Energy drain, maybe?

  4. Over at the Achalasia board this morning I was thinking how much every place I blog (with the *notable* exception of here) comes with the same cast if characters. . . . The YES-BUT, the Catastrophiser, the Negative-Nelly, the Scorpion, the Do-Bees (gladly, they are more than the others), the Helper Bees, the Helpless, the Hopeless. True for both of my dating sites, the BBB, the A-group. Not so true of facebook, because you have more choice? Also, facebook heuristics seem to change who you see on your feed page, over time: those you respond to most often, show more often, those you read and pass on show less often. I was surprised to go checking on my peeps I hadn't seen for a while to note they had been posting all along, just not showing in my feed. So the essence if facebook is that you get more of what you like, less of what you don't -- which is more like what we do in real life, and much less like your average blog. . . .

  5. Our predicted "sunny" day isn't, but at least it is calm.

  6. A couple of minutes after the previous post the sun came out--lit up the inside of the house like a searchlight!

  7. I love it when that happens!

Edwin was really worried about something once -- he really needed it *changed*-- I suggested that he remember to *ask* the Universe for what he needed. And got a low heat lecture on I didn't need to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs, lol! However, at my request, he *did* ask, and about a minute after the asking, his cell rang, and it was the news he'd been needing. So I said: Now say Thank You!! And he did without protest, and at that moment all the clouds cleared and the clearest rays of evening sun shot straight in and lit everything up, just like that! We just kind of looked at each other, dumbfounded, and began to laugh. Sometimes the Universe could hardly BE clearer.

  8. I had a great book which, like the dope I am I gave away an have never been able to find again. Think the title was You Forever" or "Forever You" by someone named Rampa. Don't remember it discussing dowsing, but it did talk about auras and astral projection. Fascinating book. Must try again to find it. BTW I never was able to see my own aura, much less anyone else's. But I find the idea intriguing. It must have to do with the commonly accepted notion of personal space. That is, if someone gets too close, he gets inside the space enclosed by your aura, and that's pretty uncomfortable. It's just that most people don't realize why it's uncomfortable.

  9. Well, no dog yet. Demetrius and Daughter came with me to the shelter. "Sirloin" has an awful lot of energy and would need a lot of leash work. We looked at a couple other dogs.

Daughter (who, like the rest of the family, really isn't into the idea of getting another dog) is really taken with this one.

  10. LOL Alan. Isn't that always the way? Though not usually something as lovely as what you describe.

  11. Besides forcing me to write to Parker Stevenson, did I tell you what else my sister did?

She found an autographed photo of Parker with Sean Cassidy, AKA the Hardy Boys, and a centerfold of Parker from a teen magazine. She put both of them up on my walls for me so I can see them easily from my computer chair. Is she or is she not a sweet girl?

  12. Look at those ears!

The question is, could you and Winnie live with this one?

  13. Sweet Girl is MY vote. . . .

  14. Jack Russel terriers are a *trip*!! Have a friend working on their third generation of JR's! I'd say: goferit! (Maybe they're part cat?)

  15. The guy I learned from (via a radio program) has classes, and a ways into the class he gets and attractive girl and an attractive fella up on stage, puts 'em a bit apart, and lets the rest of the class watch as their auras reach for each other.

I bought his book *after* I learned: and he's right -- sixty seconds to do it.

  17. Now I want to know what colour mine is, and how to tell, and what meanings the colours may have.

  18. I still would rather Facebook show me all my peeps and let me decide for today.

  19. Excellent! Beautiful stories, both.

So, puddle, when are you going to publish a collection of your best recollections??! You write them out so well and they're always at once a hoot and an inspiration!

  20. Winnie probably could. I don't know that I'm up to it...and Demetrius, who could tolerate a beagle, pretty actively dislikes Jack Russells. And this one isn't housebroken.

Aaaaaagh! This is frustrating. Daughter definitely likes the smaller dogs, and it would be nice to have *something* that vaguely connected us again. But I know that I can't count on her to really be a help in meeting the needs of a high energy dog.

  21. Today Root*Center*Son gave his big presentation at the Library, and about three people came to it. Granted, it was in the mid-70's and sunny, so there were few people at the Library even for books.

Then Youngest came along with DIL and her sister. But DIL left in a huff over something pretty minor. =Sigh=

We took a drive tonight and heard peepers for the first time!! It helps.

  22. Check out the google link above. Unfortunately, the meanings of color pages is left out, but the instructions on how to DO it are superb!

This is Cayce's ruminations about the subject: I kinda like it, but keep reading. Some will *feel* right, and others not. Judge for yourself.

  24. Ah, listener, if you can sneak in a hug from me for the kiddle, please do. Smarts when you're doing your best and things beyond your control interfere. And companioning you in the =sigh=. . . .

  25. I should have been more specific. DIL left with sister and Youngest in tow. Youngest didn't think it was warranted, but he knows the limits of his power.8-)
I was hosting Root*Center*Son's talk at the time, so never knew it had happened until afterward. C'est la vie.

  26. My kiddle and I had a wonderful, fun, interesting, productive two days. He broke a LOT of new ground for the garden, we provided Nancy with a lot of weeds for her chickies, He mended the hose and vacuum cleaner cord the Goobey chewed through, removed the plexigas from the screen door, and we're using it at the new top for the water tank (weighted, it makes a perfect mouse proof seal. . . . ), filled the tank (pump worked fine), he used the other pump to make cement, and fixed the front porch landing (reset the old stone that had come loose, and made a "border" around it), watered the newly planted pumpkin seed, and managed a few significant talks and memory sessions inbetween. Lovely time was had by his mother. And this was the warmest day of the year, so far: eighty plus! He also left with all my "unburnables" for the last six months, and three bags of clothes and stuff for the Harrisonberg charity, with directions on how to get there. Whew. Am gonna sleep good tonight, and I'll bed he does, too!

Got federal and state taxes filed. Definitely more relaxed now.

It would simplify my life if my client would catch up with what they owe me. I keep letting my refund ride as an estimated payment in case I have a big income next year, And it keeps not happening. The whole situation would be so much simple if I could just count on both current and back pay coming in as it's supposed to. Maybe when the new finance guy starts next month.

  28. Wow!! He's worth a half dozen sons!!!

  29. Wow, Bill, this sounds like something Mah*Sweetie could write.
He got our taxes done this weekend too. [Paying in about $800. :-( ]

And sooo often we are waiting payment from some company that is months overdue paying.
It seems to be a chain reaction. I sure wish the guy up one end of the totem pole would pay
so that everyone else along the way could pay too. :-$

  31. Seems your earliest comments about the needs of dogs were along the lines of having an already too needy dog for your present lifestyle. The trick is to find a dog who isn't too needy who could be a companion for Winnie without adding to your doggie to-do list. Is there an older (but not elderly) dog in need of a quiet household, and some companionship?

  33. Just read the article and am pleased to find so much familiarity as the colour meaning is the same as in liturgical colours used throughout the Church Year seasons. Red for martyrs, Green for healing, Purple for penitence, White for Joy, Rose is Penitence mingled with Joy, and so on. It all matches nicely with auras. When I was a child, yellow was my favourite colour. Now that makes sense. Most of my life, though, Blue has been my favourite colour, the one I feel most natural wearing and my livingroom is neutrals and blues. In recent years I have added some aqua, though prefer the shades of it that are darker than peacock blue. I wondered for awhile if I were becoming too melancholic to prefer blue so much. So I'm pleased to find it's a colour associated with spirituality. What's more, the deep aqua ~ blue with a hint of green ~ seems to have coincided with my becoming a spiritual guide. I have a large spectrum of colours in my wardrobe, and some of them as there as "shoulds" lest I get into a blue rut. I like some rose tones at times. Maybe that means I'm stronger than I used to be. ;-) Thanks muchly!! ♥

  34. I've been looking at older dogs pretty consistently.Haven't found a good match. Have now interacted with two beagles that were sold as "mellow" but who turned out not to like Winnie. In a serious enough way that there's no way the adoption counselor would approve the adoption.

The "neediness" has to do with needing to be Winnie's whole world. She *lights up" when around certain other dogs. But she certainly seems to evoke strong emotions in some dogs, and you just can't predict when it's going to happen.

But there's a kind of play that Winnie enjoys with other dogs, that I can't do with her.

  35. I'm about to head out and *hopefully* do a bit of karaoke. Here are the two shelters where I've put in applications.

    http://chaanimalshelter.org
(The "featured pet" Fred is one I still want to see interact with Winnie. And that's the shelter where we met Bodie (bad fit) and Perkins (good fit, so far).

    And this shelter
    http://www.franklincountydogs.com/adoption

It's harder to scan through that list because *so* many of them have been adopted. But if you look, keep in mind that on both sites there are some "errors". Like dogs described as "laid back" that, when I ask about them, I hear, "Oh, she's kind of nervous."

It *still* says Bodie never barks, when he clearly does.

Oh, and we've checked out Herbert the beagle at the Franklin County shelter, because he sounded wonderful "on paper" (computer screen) and everyone raved about him. He's older. He seemed mellow enough. He didn't like Winnie.

Winnie did have fun playing with Uma (the Jack Russell mix). I kept cringing in fear that she was going to break the little dog by landing on her, but they did okay.

In my case I'm assured that the problem isn't lack of money. The problem is that the guy who writes the checks can be out of the country for months at a time. And when he gets back, he has a problem wrapping his head around the idea that there is catching up to do. He also seems to be overwhelmed with work, and might easily forget that there is this guy in Illinois he needs to pay if the guy I work with didn't remind him. That's why I think having second guy in the finance office may help.
