  3. Wish I'd washed more yesterday, though where I'd a hung 'em is a mystery. Rain this afternoon, and next three days. So warm and useless, lol!

  4. My heart really lurched yesterday at Renee's news. I do really have a sad for her; and for me -- every morning when I trek out to the bathroom, I kind of more than half expect that Stevie will be gone. That he's lasted the winter out seems a miracle to me, but how to ask for an endless miracle? The small blessing in this all is that he does NOT seem to be hurting. Just losing capacity (to do hardly anything).

Yesterday's 79 high was a record for the date. Currently 70, with a predicted high of 74. Predictions are for highs in the mid-70s for the next week.

  6. No rain yet, so I washed some more. One forgets over the winter how *easy* it is to do in the river ~~ No hauling of water, at all. Just wet, clean clothes back to the lines.

Most every thing is completely dry, the remaining, mostly dry. A lot of this batch is going to go to my charity/second hand store 'cause it's too big. Some has always been too big, but now is enormous.

Meanwhile, the newish eBay wardrobe is beginning to take place. Beiges are being tans for the most part. I wonder if the seller can't *see* the difference? I'd say it was my monitor, but some stuff is *exactly* as pictured, colorwise. So then, I'd have to say that the stuff that's off, was off when they uploaded it, eh? I'm not *real* unhappy, it'll still work with each other, but it's frustrating.

  7. From the Inbox:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

This defect has been identified as "Subsequential Internal Non-morality," more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

    Some of the symptoms include

    1. Loss of direction
    2. Foul vocal emissions
    3. Amnesia of origin
    4. Lack of peace and joy
    5. Selfish or violent behavior
    6. Depression or confusion
    7. Fearfulness
    8. Idolatry
    9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.

Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure.

Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with

    1. Love
    2. Joy
    3. Peace
    4. Patience
    5. Kindness
    6. Goodness
    7. Faithfulness
    8. Gentleness
    9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (BEST Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list, and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

    - GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

Because HE Lives, and He is Able!

So let it be written, so let it be done.

    Alex

  8. Wow, Bill. Unreal.

We gad a couple days in the 70s, but it's somewhat cooler today, which is actually a good thing by my reckoning. I like warmth, but not Summer in March!

  9. BTW Listener, that photo is just heartbreaking...under the circumstances.

  10. Thanks, listener. When I saw on Facebook that you had "liked" that photo, I actually considered posting it here today. Never got around to doing it, so thanks for reading my mind. :)

Still can't properly log in with Google connect and not look anonymous. That's a bit irritating.

    Yahoo! says it's currently 81 at 6:15 p.m. Yeah.

Renee ~~ Not sure what you mean by anonymous. I clearly see your name. Or did you log in with something other than Google connect? I'm not sure how others handle this blog.

  13. Bill, when it's all working properly she gets a gold star for moderator. . . . What's she's doing now is the "Generic" log in.

  14. I *can* log in with my Twitter account, but that's not what I wanted to do.

  15. How are you holding up, Renee?

  16. So you "get it" then.

I wanted to write something to respond to some of the comments on Facebook about Brady "no longer suffering"--that was my friend Jeff. And, I didn't see it, but Demetrius mentioned that his brother said something about Brady being "out of his misery".

Brady wasn't suffering. He was, as you say, "losing capacity". We ALL do that as we get older. Pets do it in a more compressed time frame. Demetrius and I were talking about this in the car on the way to the vet today--to get Winnie and *our* Stevie updated on shots. (We only have one cat carrier, so Cat Girl goes in next week.)

I was commenting about how glad I am that we didn't take him to a vet to be put to sleep. I don't judge people who make that choice--although I noticed mysef becoming cautious about who I spoke to about Brady, because so many well-meaning people seem to want to push that particular choice.

That trip to the vet would have freaked Brady out, and that's not how I wanted any of us to spend his final moments.

It's no fun to watch loved ones deteriorate, but it's just how that whole cycle of life thing works. Having him euthanized would have spared *me* that particular brand of suffering, but in my heart I knew that letting nature run its course was the right thing to do. I trusted that God knew what She was doing.

And--I don't know how else to say this--but over the past several months I've made a conscious effort to turn my time with Brady into a sort of spiritual practice. This started around the time I got out of the hospital. I realized that I *needed* to indulge myself in periods of time when I was *only focusing on one thing*. That one thing was tending to Brady. Tuning in to detect his needs *at that moment* and adjust my behavior accordingly. So, every time I took him outside on the leash...and, as time went on, off the leash, that's what I would do.

Thanks for the explanation. I've never used anything but the generic log-in and never knew there was anything else. But there's a lot about the mechanics of this blog I find mysterious.

  19. Well, I don't read minds, but I've been known to read hearts. :-)
I'm happy to have accomplished some small thing that spared you.

  21. I thought of your Stevie all day, puddle, since he's the last of our blog's long-discussed elderly pets. Whoddathunk Stevie would outlast them all? More power to him! =^. .^=

  22. I love that you helped Brady as a spiritual practice.

I'm all for tending a pet's needs. We've had kitties die with and without vet assistance. (Vets here come to the house for that.) With Emma, last September, we had the vet come because of the condition Emma was in, after years of carefully administering medication and helping her in her diminishing capacities. It was when her illness began to make her hallucinate and become combative that we decided calling the vet was kinder. This was especially true for Emma, as she had a lifelong struggle with fear...having spent too long "on the streets" as a kitten. Instead of going out in a freakout as the illness reached her brain, she died in my arms. Mittens, some years ago, on the other hand, died of cancer on the morning after she had last been held by me and purred to her heart's content. She had been a mother cat and quite a terror to small rodents in the neighbourhood. But toward the end of her 16 1/2 years, she was nearly deaf, nearly blind, unable to jump, and in pain from cancer in her abdomen. Yet she purred that last night!

Here's to our beloved pets, and the good they bring out in us. ♥
