Sorry about that. Been a wild day.

  3. BTW, for anyone keeping track: the cottage cheese lemon cheesecake is very good. More of a fritter than a cake, but very tasty!

  5. So, I worked at the Book Mine today and we were so hammered-busy at the end that two of us could hardly serve everyone fast enough. It got to closing time, and we hadn't even started all that we have to do to put the Library to bed for the night, and a woman standing before me, whose library card I had just renewed asked me to make new library cards for her children too. My coworker tells me I handled it beautifully when I asked, "Could it wait until next time, as it's now 2pm and we're closed?" The woman said it could wait and I made sure to say that we'd be happy to make cards for the children the next time they're in. I felt bad because the kids were standing right there (though they didn't look disappointed), though Mom might have come up to the counter a bit sooner! Once everyone left we scurried about closing the blinds, shutting down all the computers, cleaning bathrooms, making sure all the windows were locked, cleaning up the children's space...which was the worst I've EVER seen it! There was even a magazine from the adult section lying around back there.

This of course happened on the day I wanted to get home quick, but at last Mah*Sweetie and I headed into town. We bit the bullet and got iPhones ... which he honestly needs so to keep track of the home business on his lunch hour at his new job. I'm not loving mine yet. You have to focus so hard on every little thing that I think I'm going to go blind. I have no intention of using it like a little computer. It's just a glorified phone that shows me the weather and can be a camera sometimes. We're keeping the land line and I'll really only use the iPhone for immediate family and road trips. Its one redeeming grace is that I will be able to SEE the grands in Maine on it when they call...!

Anyway, we got home and got our phones operational, then a friend called from Albuquerque and before I knew it it was late! I ventured to see if I could get onto the Internets from the new phone and it was simple enough. The first place I went there was HERE. I saw puddle's note hoping I'm feeling better today, but it was so incredibly teeny, as to be painfully straining to read. Zooming doesn't really help either because you can see so little. So I plugged in the phone for the night and got on computer. I peeked in at Facebook at my son's photos from snowshoeing up a mountain in northern Maine just moments before seeing a note from Nurse Teri saying her husband had gone snowshoeing up Mt. Hood today and didn't return...but had just been found by search and rescue...! Apparently he's fine. He's not yet home so she doesn't yet know what happened. WILD!

As far as my health, I'm a little bit better today, but I have a ways to go. I'm coughing too much and need to get more rest. With that in mind, I'm off to sleep.

Thanks for thinking of me today!! Tomorrow I'll be in and out, but not working at least. ♥

  6. Whew! That was a day and a half compressed into one 24 hour period! Take it easy today (but do drop by).

  7. Here I be. Another rough night, so I stayed in bed until I'd had enough sleep. Now I'm hydrating in a big way. We have to go back to town today to get my anti-viral med refilled. We have new insurance, but don't yet have the new insurance cards, so this should be interesting.

We got a dusting of snow overnight, and they're talking 2-4" more tonight. So I guess it's still Winter here.

  8. Glad you got enough sleep! That's gotta be a blessing. Beau was also up a bit early -- eight -- considering the two hour break in the middle, lol!

lad to hear you are at least a little better. Wasn't officially worried, but with not hearing from you when I knew you were sick I was a bit concerned.

  12. Thanks for the concern! It really does make a person feel good to have friends concerned for you when you're not in your usual pattern! In our mobile lives that are so frenetic and disjointed, it's so easy for an individual to fall through the cracks. This really is a Dean community! ♥

  13. I love it! She seems so grown up and at ease!!
I could picture her as a teenager...and isn't that something!

  15. I/m back home and relaxing before going to bed early. From Salt Mine No. 2 I can read HEP but not comment.

Glad everyone is feeling better. If that's how you work when you'r under the weather, listener, you must be a terror when you're well! Are we correct to assume that your sweet baboo's new job is looking good? And I had wondered whether the small display on an iPhone would be suited to my old eyes. Which reminds me that there was a story in the news about a policeman tracking a stolen iPhone with a "find my iPhone" app on HIS iPhone. Might be handy to have such an app on each of your two phones. I will see if I can find the story. Don't know if I would want to have a mapping application or not; I maintain that I never get lost, but sometimes have adventures!

I, too, maintain that I never get lost. But just to make sure, maybe a GPS app on my Blackberry would be reasonable.
