Ready for Skiiers

That's a ski trail just a bit right of center. :-)

  1. I still think Howard Dean was one of my favorite, perhaps my most favorite, major party presidential candidate, for a long time.

Bill--Positive thoughts for your new tablet computer!

My FaceBook page is just exactly as I like it, and most unlikely to change...

  4. Thanks, Alan. Not sure whether to laugh over this or scream in frustration.

  5. Ya. Mine was exactly how I wanted it. Alas. No more. They didn't ask. They just did. ack. Howsoever, the alternative has occurred to me: no facebook page at all.

  6. BTW, the phone line's been kicking me off all evening. This is the way it always starts, so if I disappear, don't worry, and don't call sheriff Chuck.

  7. Laugh. I think the kitty's people are having fun tweaking the powers that [think they] be.

  8. Okay, but I kinda miss him. ;-)

  9. I think it's a riot! It exposes how ridiculous the system is!

  10. Howard Dean was my favourite governor, and favourite candidate for President, and favourite DNC Chair ever. He still articulates my concerns with good humour and intelligence. I miss him being frequently in the news.

Except that he was never my governor, I agree. He was the one that got me personally active in politics.

  12. Sigh. I was just looking at a site about decorating and they were touting a "laundry shoot" that this guy has in his house. Have I lost my mind, or isn't it "laundry chute"?

What is a laundry shoot? Do you throw sheets up in the air and fire at them at a shooting range? Do you load them into the barrel of a cannon and fire them forth? This is a new concept for me, and I find myself spending far too much time puzzling over it.

Maybe people were never able to spell and I just didn't know it until the internet was available.

  13. Lol! Don't ever underestimate the ignorance of anyone. . . . On ebay, I deliberately use bad spelling to search. You can sometimes get real bargains off of a seller whose item *isn't* showing up in searches. . . . Is that cruel? Am I bad person? Today I contacted a seller to tell her that the baseball cap charm with a "red bird" was a Baltimore Orioles cap. . . . So I'm not bad to the bone.

  14. I used to haunt ebay and bought a lot of stuff through them. I always paid by money order or check though and I had a 100% rating. Then a lot of the sellers started taking only PayPal, and I REFUSE to open a PayPal account. I don't know if you can also use your credit card through PayPal without opening an account. I suppose it's just as well I don't know. I was one of their best customers!

  15. Off to do some hand-sewing. Last year, with an amazing intensity, I was wishing for an old working treadle machine. You know, "back to basics", "in case the power is out and I want to sew", and all that. And then I smacked myself on the forehead and realized that hand-sewing is the most basic of all! As long as you have light and a steady place to sit you can just sew all you want. Forty years ago I actually made several outfits each for myself and my baby daughter completely by hand. Couldn't afford a sewing machine. And really, up until around the time of the Civil War, *everything* was sewn by hand. So I guess that's about as "basic" as you can get!

  16. Ya. I gave mine away (two of 'em) several years ago. For one: at doll scale, hand sewing just works better. Mending is better done by hand, and virtually the only other sewing I do is warm fuzzies (fleece daytime walkarounds, which I just cut from an old one, and hand sew. It the pattern isn't one way, I start at wrist and end at hem x2 and that's it. I don't even hem them any more. They're loose and cool or warm depending on the temp. And unless I'm going to town, that's what I'll be wearing. . . . Do take 'em off to sleep though, lol!
