Happy Feast of St. Lucia!

"St. Lucia invites you to breakfast!"

FYI! The blog was eating posts earlier today, then posted all of them again! There should be 19 or more posts, so if you don't see them don't give up, just check back. ♥

  1. Here is Wikipedia's entry on St. Lucia's Day:

I am sure Howard would be perfectly happy to be number one after her.

  2. He can be her star boy for the day. . . .

  3. Frigid 10 deg here, with the predicted high 14. But at least it is bright and sunny and the wind has died down.

And it's *tomorrow* that the guy comes to reprogram the furnace. Temp in the house is 63, which isn't what it should be.

  4. Hi. It's a balmy 18 degrees here in SW Ohio. I went out early to put the cans out because today is trash day. Shoveled a bare minimum path for pedestrians, the mail carrier and myself. But when I went out again to collect the empty cans the blowing snow had already covered most of my paths. I did put down a safe de-icer too, so that helped a little.

I was supposed to go to quilting today, pick up my best friend to run around and pick up my drycleaning later. Um, none of that will be happening, thank you.

  5. Comment counter says 4, but I only see 2 comments.

  6. Wierd. A message that I posted several hours ago, and that was visible then, is no longer visible now. Can anyone else see it?

  7. And now that message is back, along with several that Susan D posted in the meantime. Looks like at that moment it was not showing anything posted since dawn.

  8. President Obama is coming up live on CSPAN any moment.

  9. :-) Thanks, Alan!

Howard Dean was on the local news tonight commenting on the difficulties facing our new Dem Governor-elect.

  11. listener, your Christmas card came today. Thanks! Got another card as well. Two Christmas cards in one day... Makes a person feel just a bit festive.

  12. I made this today for a young friend who is graduating from Police Academy tonight.
He is a wonderful person...so sweet I can hardly imagine him policing anyone! Ha!
But he is a dedicated, steady person and I already feel a little safer. :-)
He is also obsessed with Nutcrackers! He has a collection of over 100 of them!
His wife just rolls her eyes and knows that the mantel is spoken for. LOL!

  13. Odd! I posted a comment here awhile ago that is now gone. I must have hit Delete by mistake?

I mentioned that President Obama was coming up on CSPAN...to talk about the tax cut legislation.

Well, the reporters were all assembled, and the cameras, and they were waiting and waiting and waiting...
and finally President Obama comes in, says about four sentences with nothing that we all didn't already know yesterday,
and leaves without taking any questions.

I thought I was going to spit my drink all over the livingroom!
You just HAD to laugh! Those poor reporters and crews!

  14. Some of the Senators from out west are having travel troubles getting to DC to vote on the tax cuts.
Even Mother Nature is against it.

  16. Gosh, guess everbody's out Christmassing, lol! We peaked at 20º today, and are now about 14º and heading way down. . . . Warm trend towards the end of the week: back up towards freezing. Ice has already begun to reform in the river. I think the long slow sweet fall tricked me into believing we might not have winter this year.

And on the ***plus*** side: I got a two hour talk wit' ma hunny this morning into afternoon ~~ Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!

  17. This blog ate three of my posts so far!!

At least both of my senators voted NO on the tax bill today.

Thank you Pat Leahy and Bernie Sanders!

  18. :-) So happy you got it and it made you happy!!

  19. And now ALL the posts are back! At least they were somewhere! Ha!

  20. ~ ♡ ~ I am sooo grateful, puddle!

  21. Apparently the comments count is off again on again but the posts are never gone forever, so hang in there and keep posting. I find that if I get all the way out and in again the counter sometimes is correct. Then sometimes when I click on the correct number is comes up with only the 2 comments, but other times I get them all. Keep trying! It isn't YOU!

  22. Peter Welch is against it in the House too.

Vermont does it again. I am grateful.

  23. Richard Holbrooke has died. :-(

  26. Now they're all back, lol! And a whole day's conversations. . . . The irony, in case no one's noticed: we PAY for this. The Free One was perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nope, at 9:56 Eastern I still see only 2 comments. I'm sending this "note in a bottle" out in case someone can see it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Susan, I wish you could see this, lol! Keep refreshing. Try a *forced* refresh (shift + F5). I'm finally seeing everything.

  29. The problem, as I see it, is that the Republicans are apparently able to hold extension of long-term unemployment benefits hostage. That would be bad not only for people who can't find a job but for the economy. Otherwise I'd say just let the tax cuts expire. Not to mention that we wouldn't have this viscious attack on Social Security that came from somewhere out of left field.
