  2. Thanks, puddle. I was wondering if folks might be getting tired of the sameness of all the woods photos. There are just a few left, though and we're on to other things.

It gives me pause to realise that I haven't been out in the woods since the windstorm. I wonder what toll there was out there this time. I imagine, though, that the stream is rushing from all the precipitation. It will be so pretty with snow on everything...if the pathways are at all passable now.

I think we may wake up to 2 feet of snow!

  6. Small triumphs. . . . I've been needing bath towels (bath sheets) for a couple of years. The original stock of four is down to one, and it's got these erm well rents. . . . I've checked ebay many times, but I have a VERY difficult time even thinking about paying $15 for ONE towel. . . . Plus, they've gotta be some kind of green. So, after my bath tonight and reminded yet again, I sat down and checked ebay. Well there is a gazillion towels, and some very ugly ugly greens. And then voila! Four hunter green, one side terry, one side velour 30 X 60 for $25. Even with the $10 shipping that makes them less than $10 each! Small triumphs and small blessings. I'm happy happy happy. And I'm good for another 15 years.

  8. It really is the little things in life like a good towel and hot water that make life pleasurable!

  10. Sooo, I'm home from the doctor. The swelling in my throat went down last evening (and there was much rejoicing!!). It stayed for exactly two weeks. I'm still hoarse, but hopefully that will subside quickly now. Doc says I had three things going on: viral laryngitis, then sinusitis, then a reaction to bookshelf dust from when we did a little cleaning and decorating on Saturday. The good news is that I'm cleared to return to work on Thursday!

  12. And we have sunshine, and bitter cold. Sez we're supposed to get up to 27º but it's after two, and we just reached 20º so I'm thinking not. River's forming an ice skim very quickly as well as ice wings at the edges.

My kid arrives tonight with a clawfoot bathtub from a friend of his's renovation. I'm recommending that we just off load it, and tarp it, and wait till spring to try for the installation, since plumbing it will mean under the house on yer back kind of stuff. But he'll do as he wishes. Always has.

  13. Glad to hear the news.

  16. ♡ RIP Elizabeth Edwards ~ 3 July 1949 to 7 December 2010 ♡

    Age 61

That's the same age my Mom-in-law was when she died of pancreatic cancer.

    It's way too young.

  17. Elizabeth Edwards died this afternoon. Funny, I kinda didn't really think we'd lose her. She's such a fighter. Our loss, completely.

  18. Yanno, sometimes other people, strangers are just so wonderful, it takes your breath away. I'd found a dress and a jacket at this store on ebay. Then I found an even more wonderful flag motif jacket/topper that would go wonderfully well with the red dress, but it was way too much. But had an "or make offer" offer. So for the first time I did. She didn't accept but made a very reasonable counter offer, which I accepted. The checkout notice said if you buy five things, shipping would be free. By now the shipping's getting up there, so I looked at her store. There was a wonderful red sweater, which I bookmarked for later consideration, but nothing else I *really* wanted. So I went ahead and paid. Then last night, got an official email from her saying, shipping was free for four. Since I'd already paid, I asked how that would go. She responded she'd refund the whole first transaction, and send a new invoice. So I bought the sweater, she sent the new invoice, and I paid. With the free shipping, the sweater, in essence cost $9. And it was a $30 sweater. She didn't make a penny on it. Maybe even lost a bit. Wasn't huge, wasn't hard, but it was just so very nice! Kinda has the makings of a very nice Christmas spirit going on around here.

  20. I can't help but be very, very angry at John Edwards for causing her such pain in her last years. I hope her children find comfort, I offer none to him.

  23. CT scan perfectly normal; fully anticipated, but certainly welcome. Gotta get to work now; I am sure I owe at least one attorney a declaration this week.
