Mmmm...peppers

I like them best sauteed. How about you? (With apologies to any fruitarians.)

  1. Red and yellow peppers are first. Green, not so much, except with onions on pizza.

And, oh yeah. That Howard fella's first too.

  2. Alas. Bell peppers, red, green, or yellow, are the single thing in the world of food, that my mouth hates. Absolutely. On the other hand, I adore Chiles Rellenos ~~ go figure. . . .

I mostly see bell peppers either in salads or in stir-fry -- which I guess is a kind of sautee. I've never noticed that the color makes much difference to the taste, although red or yellow can stand out against green lettuce.

  5. Oh, I like the red peppers best, definitively! I like yellow uncooked, but the yellow and orange peppers seem to lose their taste when cooked. Red is good either way. I don't like the green raw, though unless it's in a sandwich that also has vinegar, as I get indigestion from them a lot of the time.

  7. Google and YouTube don't often fail me, but today I'm looking for a song by Andy Williams that must have been a hit in the mid '70s. I heard it on the radio a lot. Think it's called "Love Theme" or "Our Love Theme." Actually found the lyrics but cant find the song itself anywhere. No particular reason; I just had a yen to hear it. Only I can't. ARG!

  8. On the other hand, it took nothing flat to find "Cracklin' Rosie" by Neil Diamond.

I continued down after the Ally update to the post below.

We have gotten rid of the gray-flannel bureaucrats of the 1950s. They, like my parents, were essentially locked into one job for a lifetime. Now days it's true that most employers view employees as fungible. But it's equally true that most people now view jobs as fungible. I'm inclined to say that's an improvement. Depending on exactly how you count, I've had maybe a dozen different jobs in my lifetime. I'd say that's good. Variety is hte spice of life, and I like spice!

The article you were responding to was basically about median income stagnation in the post-Reagan era, which is something quite different.

  13. I actually took a day off today and just puttered around the house. I didn't even go out for groceries. It's going to be quite a different sort of day tomorrow...work and errands. But Hubby is on his way home. All's right with the world. ♥

Good news! We just heard from our son. He has been on a camping trip in Colorado. When he called from Denver on Sunday, he firmly assured us he would be home last might. But nothing. No word at all. Turns out they were delayed by hailstorms, and you can't always count on a cell tower in the middle of the great open spaces. But he's now just outside Davenport and should be home by midnight.

  16. You like Neil Diamond, Puddle? I donno. I like some of his songs, but his singing style is a little rough around the edges for my taste. For some reason that song was running through my mind all morning though. It's a good song!

  19. Would have liked to put this on my facebook wall, but I fear that doing so would set off my SIL again, so enjoy:

  20. When the green bell peppers mature they turn red and are very sweet.
