Welcome, March!
Spinnaker is so excited that the rodents are waking up from Winter's sleep!
Fun Fact: Red squirrels frequently tunnel through snow, often creating elaborate networks to navigate between food caches, trees and feeding areas. These subnivean (under-snow) tunnels help them conserve energy, stay warm (around 32ΒΊF), and escape predators, as they can travel under a foot or more of snow.

Clay Leaf
Lovely photo by my dear friend Ginger showing me that she kept the Clay Leaf pin I gave her
many years ago. It was made my another dear friend of mine, Shirin, decades ago.
My goodness, I'm feeling rather old. ~ listener

Hathaway on Rodent Patrol
This gorgeous Barred Owl is, we believe, a female, as she's huge and the females are larger than the males. She returned as sentinel on our fence after a storm. So, I checked in with one of Shiloh's colleagues, who confirmed that Barred Owls hunt rodents and aren't much interested in birds. This was further confirmed when a pair of White-breasted Nuthatches braved the scene to eat at our feeder.
