Trump now calls war reporting ‘treason’. His attacks on the press are escalating fast
Margaret Sullivan Guardian Opinion There’s nothing completely new in Donald Trump’s latest attacks on reporters.
But they’re more extreme now and ever more indicative of what he wants: a docile press that provides propaganda – not factual journalism – for everything he does, including for his misguided war in Iran.
He even suggested this week that news organizations could be charged with treason for, as he baselessly sees it, spreading false information and thus helping America’s enemies.
He’s getting plenty of help from his top loyalists. Pete Hegseth, the former Fox News host who is now the secretary of defense, is demanding more “patriotic” headlines and stories, and expressed hope that CNN would soon be brought to heel by new, Trump-friendly ownership. -- nordy
They demand FOX on steroids. Reminds me of Pravda. I don't even watch TV news any more. I read the podcasts on You Tube. Adam Mockler, Farron, Tennesee Brando, Legal AF. Susan
DT somehow believes that HE is the center of American government, rather than the Constitution. Might help if someone could give him an audio of someone reading the Constitution out loud, with explanation. Of course, he'd be aghast to find he isn't supposed to be worshipped as infallible. Treason indeed. He knows a lot about treason...dropping sanctions on Russia while Russian is aiding Iran.
Saw a post today, "America shouldn't have to protect Democracy from our own President". But we should be protecting it and I CANNOT understand why everybody is just kind of standing around and watching it happen instead of STOPPING HIM. Susan
It's the same old complaint. Reps organize, build, prepare and seize control of the narrative. Dems just sort of float along and occasionally react. It's maddening!
Trump is such a fool, with his reliance on fossil fuels. If he actually were a savvy businessman, he'd have gotten into renewables years ago. For that matter, fossil fuel companies would have done so too. Very shortsighted.
Actually, the oil companies; investors have been investing in some renewables. The companies don't want to drill as much as DT wants them to, because they know the oil would cost too much to extract or be the wrong kind of oil in some places.
I have a nice apartment in a nice senior living facility. Getting the place furnished and all the things I need moved over from my old house is proving a challenge, however, especially in the aftermath of identity theft. jason and Marcus do what they can but it's discouragingly slow.

DeleteI would also recommend Katie Phang, Glenn Kirschner and Legal Eagle for U.S. legal news.

DeleteQuestion: Will Tump outpive me? He doesn't act like he expects to.
ReplyDeleteoutpive = outlive of course
DeleteIt's hard to say if any of us will outlive him...since he has the nuclear codes.

ReplyDeleteOh, W.A., identity theft! I'm so sorry. What a terrible mess!
DeleteSure sounds like you've been dealing with a lot. I hope you are soon settled in and getting to enjoy your new digs...and with no more violations.
