  1. Oh, my dear blog friends, I have received such horrible news. Our wildlife biologist son, Shiloh (aka PhD*Son), age 46, does research on Alaska’s North Slope for a month each June. We learned this evening that today the helicopter in which he was being transported crashed. There were no survivors. We are, of course, devastated.

On board were the pilot and our son. He was just getting up there to open camp for the month of research, and was leader of the team. This is highly confidential as we have not informed extended family yet. We’re especially devasted for our DIL and two of our older granddaughters, ages 18 and 15, and our daughter and her two little ones Younger*Grandson 9 and Youngest*Grand, 5, who also live in the same household. Grandson truly idolised his uncle.

There’s really nothing good about this. It even happened on Eldest’s 50th birthday.
