Hey everybody. Just got back from the giant thrift store. My youngest complains all the time about how boring Ohio is. The truth is that he was no happier in New York. But I found a black mug for him that says "Welcome to Ohio. Hell is real". It cracked me up and I think he'll like it. Susan
For the past four weeks, I have averaged 7 hours of sleep each night!!!!!! Yesterday we put in 9.5 hours of effort on granddaughter's apartment renovations. Today I cooked...two soups, salad, buttermilk biscuits for strawberry shortcake, and made homemade dressing and homemade mayonnaise. Tomorrow I am bringing soup and salad and dessert to a friend whose daughter recently had to testify in court against her attacker. It's good that moment is behind them and the perpetrator is behind bars.
Do you all watch the newer PBS series on Masterpiece of All Creatures Great and Small? Wil and I are on our third time through the entire series ... all six seasons. Tonight we watched the episode where WWII breaks out. Sobering to watch in our current situation. Ah, but it's soooo well done!! Definitely my favourite show on television. If you haven't seen it, you may want to know that if you make a $70 donation to PBS each year you get subscribed to PBS Passport and can watch it all you want.
The original was closer to the books, but the newer version is far better quality! It's not a remake, exactly, because it uses some of the same situations, but expands on the story line with the approval of the author's children, and the characters are far better developed. It's beautifully acted!! The women in this version have better roles too...they're not just love interests and eye candy, but farmers, workers and people who influence others for good. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed.

ReplyDeleteI remember enjoying the original. Not generally a big fan of remakes.
