“Trump cannot pardon you!" Philly's hero DA Larry Krasner issues a BRUTAL warning to ICE agents that "I will put you in HANDCUFFS" if they abuse people at the Philly airport!
Philadelphia's badass District Attorney Larry Krasner showed up at the airport today and delivered a blunt, no-nonsense warning to federal ICE agents as Trump threatens to flood airports with them for mass arrests and “security.”
Krasner wasn’t messing around: “This is how it works. You commit crimes within the jurisdiction that is the city and county of Philadelphia, I prosecute you. No, I don’t take a phone call from the president saying let him go. No, the president cannot pardon you. I’ll say it again, the president cannot pardon you.”
“And yes, I will put you in handcuffs and I will put you in a courtroom and if necessary I will put you in a jail cell,” he said. “If you decide to make the terrazzo floor of this airport anything like what you did in the streets of Minneapolis, which involved the criminal homicide of unarmed innocent people, we are not having that here.”
“To any agent who might think about doing it an illegal way, I’ll be seeing you in court and you’re not gonna like it.”
This is a powerful stand against Trump’s plan to turn airports into deportation zones and unleash ICE without accountability. Krasner is drawing a hard line: federal agents don’t get a free pass to break the law in Philadelphia, and Trump’s pardon power stops at the city limits.
It was 80 degrees here yesterday. Today it's in the 40's. I have to repair my "No Kings" sign because the "S" has flopped over. I cannot express how much I want to be there in person but my doctor and my adult children had all said "NO" quite forcefully. They're probably right. The last time I fell there and couldn't get up again. So tomorrow I'll put my sign out during the protest and hope it pisses some random MAGA off. Susan
Today Jason brought the plastic chair mat for in front of the computer. He had had it stored for years. Now I can use the comfortable stuffed, wheeled office chair that had been at the dining table. The Rollator is not suitable because the high arms block my arms' proper positioning.
The rollator is not suitable to sit in, I find, for the reason you cite as well as, for me, its instability. Even with brakes locked, mine always scoots away whenever I try to sit on it. A proper chair is definitely preferable.
Hallo All! Great to hear you get to set out your protest sign, Susan. It counts!!! And great to hear that you get to participate safely, W.A.! Wil and I will be out protesting too. I'll post photos of my new sign. I know all of you will be cheering us on!
Solutions are underway. I may have mentioned that my email is locked because it wants a second verification by texting my old landline that the identity thief hijacked and blocked access to. We're told giving Jason power of attorney will provide a way around this and the POA got signed and notarized today.

ReplyDeleteOh, it's much better to be safe.
DeleteTomorrow I expect to attend my first No Kings rally, directly in front of the Oak Park Arms where I am now living.
DeleteTerrific! More power to you!

ReplyDeleteTrying a new browser, Duck Duck Go. It is supposed to have excellent privacy features.
ReplyDeleteDuck Duck Go doesn't work as well with my screen reader as Opera, so I'll be sticking mostly with that.
DeleteI use DuckDuckGo because, unlike Chrome or Edge, it doesn't periodically freeze.

ReplyDeleteExcellent. Sounds like things are shaping up.

Despite the scooting, devven with brakes locked, I find the Rollator pretty fair for sitting. But not for using a computer keyboard.
