  1. Hey! Had a message from Susan Wednesday afternoon, saying:

I just read this morning that this foul animal [DT, of course] is " thinking about " giving a pardon to P DIDDY!
The only animal even more foul than he is. Wait 'til you see Saturday's front page pic from Susan!!

We are coming through the rye and are functional. But it still hurts so much.

  3. I am feeling very noticeably better this morning, mentally and physically. Overmedication seems to have been part of the problem.

  4. Anger over starvation in Gaza leaves Israel increasingly isolated

NYT: As anger grows over widespread hunger in Gaza, Israel risks becoming an international outcast. The deadly Hamas-led attack on Israel in 2023 remains a vivid, salient event for many Israelis. But for others around the world, the devastation and hunger in Gaza have become more visible and urgent ...
The increasing debate over whether Israel is committing genocide is also reflective of how “something fundamental has shifted in how Israel is perceived,” said Daniel Levy, a negotiator under former Labor Party-led governments in Israel ...
He points to a sharp cultural shift, with anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian and sometimes antisemitic demonstrations at places including opera houses and music festivals ...
Opinion polls reflect the change. A Pew poll in April found that American views of Israel had turned more negative. About 53% of U.S. adults now express an unfavorable opinion of Israel, up from 42% before the Hamas attack. Of those, the share who voice very unfavorable views of Israel went up to 19% of adults this year, from 10% in 2022. -- nordy

    1. It's not antisemitic to be furiously opposed to the starving of children.

    2. Yes. You cqn (and should) condemn the state of Israel without in any way blaming Jews generally.

  5. All the ways Republicans want to honor Trump
AP — Imagine getting the day off work for Donald Trump’s birthday. Receiving a $100 bill with Trump’s portrait on it. Touching down at Donald J. Trump International Airport near the nation’s capital. And taking in a show at the Donald J. Trump Center for Performing Arts.

All would be possible under a flurry of bills Republican lawmakers have sponsored this year.

Trump is six months into his second term, but some Republicans are ready to elevate him into the pantheon of American greats, proposing an ever-growing list of bills paying tribute well before his second term ends. One lawmaker even proposes carving his face into Mount Rushmore. -- nordy

"I don't know when in this country it became a negative to make money," said [Sen. Rick] Scott. "How many of you don’t want to make money? Anybody want to be poor?"

  7. Colbert has Harris on tonight and when it was announced as the show began they called her Vice President Harris, not *former* Vice President Harris. 🤣

    1. It;s customary to continue to use the former title. It's still President [Bill] Clinton.

    2. Wil said that too. Maybe I just loved to hear it so much. Oh how I wish she were President right now instead of Bozo.

    3. Actually, Bozo the Clown would be an improvement, What we have is President Caligula.
