Why Is Ghislaine Maxwell Being Pampered in Prison?
This week, Jamie Raskin, D-Md., revealed that a whistleblower had given the House Judiciary Committee information about the special treatment that Ghislaine Maxwell is receiving at the minimum-security federal prison she was recently transferred to.
In a letter to President Donald Trump, Raskin wrote that Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation, has had custom meals delivered to her cell. The warden, he said, personally arranged for Maxwell to meet privately with family members and other visitors and even provided snacks and refreshments. According to Raskin, her guests were allowed to bring computers, potentially allowing her unauthorized communication with the outside world.
Maxwell was allegedly taken to the prison’s exercise room after hours so she could work out alone, and “allowed to enjoy recreation time in staff-only areas,” Raskin wrote. An inmate who trains service dogs was reportedly instructed to give her special access to a puppy.
What’s shocking here is not that Maxwell is being treated decently — all prisoners should be — but that she’s being treated so much better than everyone else. The relative pampering she’s enjoying seems particularly significant given newly released emails between her and Epstein suggesting she’s harboring some sort of secret about Trump. -- nordy

On the second day of the government shutdown, Gestapo Barbie and Friends flew to Mt. Rushmore to film a television ad about how they’re going to be real tough and brutalize your abuela for breaking the law. DHS cited the imaginary “national emergency” at the border to circumvent the contract bidding process for this project, which would somehow cost taxpayers TWO HUNDRED MILLION F*CKING DOLLARS!
The winner of the no-bid contract was a firm called “Strategy Group,” that Pro Publica reports is “a Republican consulting firm with long-standing personal and business ties to Noem and her senior aides at DHS.”
Noem and her cronies tried to hide this, as the name does not appear on any public documents. “The main recipient listed on the contracts is a mysterious Delaware company, which was created days before the deal was finalized,” reports ProPublica.
Guess who the CEO of this company is? Oh, it’s the husband of Tricia McLaughlin, Noem’s right-hand-liar! Oh, and the company played a huge role in her 2022 gubernatorial campaign for South Dakota. Oh, AND it has extensive ties to Noem’s boytoy, accused sexual predator Corey Lewandowski!
“It’s corrupt, is the word,” said Charles Tiefer, a leading authority on federal contract law, to ProPublica. He said that the Strategy Group’s role should prompt investigations by both the DHS inspector general and the House Oversight Committee. “Hiding your friends as subcontractors is like playing hide the salami with the taxpayer,” Tiefer added.
Every single person in the Trump administration is treating the treasury like their personal piggy bank, wasting insane sums of money on vanity stunts while redirecting the money back into their own wallets. It’s corruption from top-to-bottom, and any incoming Democratic administration needs to make the prosecution of every one of these thieves a top priority.
