The Brick House was a wedding present from the bride's parents

Today I am driving to CT to see a dear old friend, then on through RI to Cape Cod.

Just one more reason to live in Vermont...The Views!

This is the view from The Brick House, home of the Webb Family of Shelburne, Vermont, founders of the Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms. Photos over the next nine days (through Deanfest) will be from my recent visit to The Brick House. Enjoy a little Americana, Vermont style! :-)

When a green leaf falls...

Watched this green leaf fall from its tree under a calm sky. Why?

Hot sunset

Gorgeous!

We watched the fireworks last Sunday lying on the grass looking up...and they exploded over the entire sky like hemisphere-sized northern lights (which I've actually seen before...one November 8th in the late '80's)!

Getting to be time for fresh blueberries...

Even since I set this to post a few days ago, our berries have begun to ripen! This heat has them coming due 3-4 weeks early!

Ready for the holiday weekend?

How do you mark Independence Day? We sometimes watch a parade, sometimes walk with a candidate in a parade. We try to see fireworks somewhere. We eat shortcake and whipped cream with both strawberries and blueberries. Sometimes we grill, other times we take a drive and get cones. If you are feeling frustrated by the tendency for "hooray for war" presentations on July 4th, take a look at how some Progressives are marking the day: http://www.spiritualprogressives.org/article.php/20100701130739782

They're at it again...

The wrens are at it again. They have taken over the middle birdbox. Sigh. This means they have used ALL THREE of ours this season, leaving none for the Bluebirds, Chickadees, Swallows and others who have rented in our yard before. They sure are busy little birds!
