Yes on Issue 5
From my inbox
Good evening!
The national payday-lending lobby currently has its 5th ad on the air. We have our first -- on cable only. The Is 391% Too High? Vote Yes on Issue 5 Committee is leading an uphill fight for the YES vote on Issue 5 and we'd really appreciate it if you could post our new ad on your blog.
Two additional clever, funny and very low budget videos we put together are available here: http://www.yesonissue5.com/videos.html
Thank you very much!

Monday Open Thread
Considered posting one of the political images from Pundit Kitchen, but wasn't sure if it would be overkill on the Sarah Palin jokes. So I'm just going with the kitty picture, but also posting a link to the political funnies.

PUFFIN, THE BULL TERRIER, KNOWS WHAT'S WHAT!
I have a friend in Boston who raises Bull Terriers and trains owners,
and is a board certified behavior analyst.
She sent us this photo of PUFFIN, who is strongly supporting Barack Obama.
John McCain may try to claim that he is like Teddy Roosevelt,
but, hey, Puffin has a nose!
Gorgeous dog! Woof!

This is a trip...
Of course, we photographed John McCain and Tina Fey together. He was thrilled to meet her and they got along very well: They had lunch and he gave her an impromptu tour of the Senate building. Makes us wonder if when McCain met Palin for the first time, he said, ‘You know, you remind me of someone…'”Comments

Roger Ebert evaluates the debate as "theater"
Here.
A couple of my favorite parts:
I sensed that Sarah Palin was nervous. Well, she had every right to be, and as I thought about the debate during the day on Thursday, I felt some empathy for her: In university terms, she was being asked to defend her doctoral thesis without having written it. If that had been me facing Joe Biden with the same preparation, I don't know if I could even have walked onto the stage.
And...
I would love to have his ability to put words together so well!
Listening to her voice, you could also sense when she felt she'd survived the deep waters of improvisation and was climbing onto the shore of talking points.

LOOK WHO RETURNED WITH THE RED LEAVES
I'm pretty sure this is the female red fox who visited our yard last spring and summer with her mother and brothers. This view is based on her personality and size, and that she came to eat under the same feeders where she and her mother always used to. Isn't she gorgeous?! It is wonderful to see her looking so healthy! Today is the first time I've seen her since they all left mid-summer. If she's staying around she will be called Titia (first "i" sounds long...as in Titian, the artist who painted women with red hair). =^. .^=

Tactics vs. Strategies
Steven Colbert explains it for us.
Now nation, if you don't know the difference...Comments
A tactic is when Bush used political operatives to slander McCain in 2000. A strategy is when McCain hired those same operatives to run his campaign in 2008. Totally different!
