  2. The Associated Press, one of the world's oldest and most influential news organizations, said Monday it is offering buyouts to an unspecified number of its U.S.-based journalists as part of an acceleration away from the focus on newspapers and their print journalism that sustained the company since the mid-1800s.
The News Media Guild, the union that represents AP journalists, said more than 120 staff members received buyout offers on Monday.

The news organization is becoming more focused on visual journalism and developing new revenue sources, particularly through companies investing in artificial intelligence, to cope with the economic collapse of many legacy news outlets. Once the lion’s share of AP’s revenue, big newspaper companies now account for 10% of its income. -- nordy

    1. What a terrible world we live in. No small part of what is wrong with today's society is that so few people read a local newspaper every day. This goes to lack of social cohesion...

Sorry, I'm too tired to sustain a rant. Suffice it to say, the world is in decline, and it's bloody depressing!

    2. Very sad to see AP going this way. We are in sharp decline as a nation and we're dragging down the world with us. How I wish the midterm were thi week! If you read Heather Cox Richardson, you know we're in a chaotic mess today and tomorrow. Stay close to truth and what matters.

    3. Commander Reid's wife Carroll died in 2020 of cancer at age 46, and they had two daughters who are now teens. He took them for a walk before launch to tell them about his will and the related paperwork incase he doesn't return. They have just named a bright lunar crater on the Moon "Carroll." Reentry for Artemis II is this Friday at 7:53pm ET.
