The Posse Comitatus Act is not part of the constitution but a long-established law that forbids use of federal troops for law enforcement except in cases of insurrection. Exactly what purpose Trump's troops are supposed to serve is unclear. They look like they are supposed to help enforce immigration law, which would be illegal. But even if they are only supposed to address assalts on federal law enforcement officials, that is still a crime they are blocked from dealing with.
The Posse Comitatus Act does not apply to use of the National Guard WHEN CALLED BY THE STATE'S GOVERNOR. But that does not apply to what Trump is doing.
"Today a man was abducted by ICE outside my building. He did nothing wrong, simply working his job as a landscaper. Our neighbor asked for the ICE officers’ ID (required by judge ruling yesterday) and a warrant and they refused. "ICE is also targeting schools. They are showing up at pick up lines and abducting parents. "Friends outside of Chicago are asking how to help. Please spread the word, let your friends and families know this is happening. It is heartbreaking. Call your reps, take care of your neighbors." ~ Michaela McGill
It strikes me that I have not heard of anything like this in Oak Park. Things may have changed somewhat, but at one time Oak Park had a substantial foreign-born population -- mostly south Asians. Being Oak Parkers, they probably had their legal residence permits, but that doesn't seem to affect ICE
