I continue to be surprised by how much meat people consume nowadays---far more than in the 1930's to 1950's, maybe even the 1960's.

    1. There were no statistics in the article, so Ilooed them up. Since 1965 total per capita meat consumption has increased about 20%, driven entirely by increased consumption of chicken anr, to a lesser extent, turkey. Consumption of red meat has fallen about 25%.

    2. Couldn't find good data for earlier dates. but consumption of chicken started to surge in the 1950s as prices plummeted.
