But it does create stress for patients with conditions that appear urgent but are not immediately life-threatening.

I experienced this when the macular degeneration went "wet" in my second eye. I recognized the symptoms in early December but couldn't get an appointment with my retinal specialist until January. I was just mulling whether earlier treatment might have saved a bit more sight. But maybe not. My first two treatments were technically experimental because the procedure hadn't yet been approved by the FDA, and I'm not sure this "phase IV" trial was available much before I was enrolled in it.W. But it's a bit better each day and I suspect it will be fine by Monday.

However, my dearest friend, who had the bilateral (double) mastectomy and is facing an ovariectomy learned that she needs yet another biopsy because she might have uterine cancer. Of course, that can't be done until after the New Year, so now she just gets to wait and worry (again!).

I tell ya, I'm going to know when I make it to heaven/nirvana by the lack of high pitched stress!
