DT is venting on Seattle again. We have a new mayor-elect, Katie Wilson, who defeated an incumbent backed by business interests. She's a community organizer and a socialist. Trump called her a communist. -- nordy
My favourite part about all of this is that Johnson talked with Thune over the weekend and had the impression that Thune was going to make some amendments. But instead, Thune just rammed it straight through! HA! Johnson finally got his due.
Last night I got a telephone survey about the Democratic primary in my Congressional district (IL-7). The incumbent, Danny Davis, is retiring. Davis is a lackluster establishment Democrat who rises above mediocre only in trying to bring those who have served their time back into society.
I'll be voting for Kina Collins, a progressive who challenged Davis two years ago. The field is crowded, but it appears that her main rival will be the Chicago City Treasurer, who Davis has endorsed. The treasurer has promised to fight for healthcare but otherwise has a platform I find uninspiring.
Very funny, listener! -- nordy
