    3. Youngest set up a GoFundMe site in Shiloh’s honour on Saturday and it brought in $30,000 the first day! He was far more known and well loved than we knew.

  3. ABC News suspends journalist after calling Trump and adviser ‘world-class’ haters

Guardian: ABC News has suspended its senior national correspondent after he described top White House aide Stephen Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” on social media.

An ABC News spokesperson said that Terry Moran “has been suspended pending further evaluation”, adding: “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others." -- nordy

  4. Trump charts new territory in bypassing Newsom to deploy National Guard

Wapo: President Donald Trump’s order to deploy 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles appears unprecedented, relying on an unorthodox use of a law aimed at quelling serious domestic unrest or an attack on the United States by a foreign power, some legal experts said Sunday.

It marks the first time in about 60 years that an American president has taken such action without a governor’s consent. Furthermore, his executive order authorizes the Pentagon to dispatch military personnel domestically to enable federal functions and protect government property – a chilling sign, the experts said, that Trump is prepared to send troops into other cities in response to protests. -- nordy

  5. Trump Is Using the National Guard as Bait
    Tom Nichols
    The Atlantic

President Donald Trump is about to launch yet another assault on democracy, the Constitution, and American traditions of civil-military relations, this time in Los Angeles. Under a dubious legal rationale, he is activating 2,000 members of the National Guard to confront protests against actions by ICE, the immigration police who have used thuggish tactics against citizens and foreigners alike in the United States.
By militarizing the situation in L.A., Trump is goading Americans more generally to take him on in the streets of their own cities, thus enabling his attacks on their constitutional freedoms. -- nordy

  6. A couple of days ago several Democratic states, notably including California, raised the possibility of retaining funds normally forwarded to the federal government for support legally ordered by Congress for use in those states, which would decrease federal funds for Republican states.
